  1. Thankfully, the heart of the warm sector to our west and southwest will be passing through overnight tonight, not aided by the high June sun angle.

Here is where its centered now.

    (10 am obs !!!!!) temp/dewpoint

    Cleveland : 82F/67F

    Cincinnati : 82F/70F

    Philadelphia : 85F/72F

    Erie : 82F/65F

Perhaps the under 60F degree ocean temps south of New England can modify this overnight warm sector abit. I wonder if this were July, with warmer ocean temps, if this coming night would be one of those where it would struggle to get under 80F at Logan and under 70F in suburbia. As it is, it should be fairly warm and humid.

    1. Thanks for the info. Even though rain is in the forecast for overnight, I am
seriously wondering if we will see even a single drop. I just have this feeling.

      Latest surface map:

Does the warm sector even get in here overnight? I dunno. It will be close, but
I am thinking perhaps not. We shall see.

    2. I flew in from Philly today and I can tell you first hand it was “wicked” humid there.

  2. Sorry the updates have been a bit skimpy this week. Had ceiling redone in the WHW “office” (den).

    1. Whatever happened to looking out the window?

I wouldn’t take one of those if someone gave it to me.
It’s like having a pet rock. wow! πŸ˜†

      1. I love it – but I like toys. And I adored my pet rock……..however, I cannot seem to recall its name or what happened to it πŸ™

  3. Interesting, even on a glorious day like today, Logan can F it up with a Freakin
Sea Breeze!!!! Wind from 110 at logan. Gee guess what direction that is????

    LOGAN BLOWS!!!!

I’m perhaps 2-3 miles from the airport here at the office and it has to be
    about 85 here. πŸ˜€

    1. I’m guessing the outside workers probably don’t mind the ocean wind at this time of year. πŸ™‚

      1. With today’s temperatures, I agree. Let’s keep it this way.
No more NE flow with temps in the 50s and 60s!!!!!!

        LOGAN still BLOWS!

  4. Light sea breeze, decent sun, warm airmass …. that top layer of ocean water is warming quickly today. The Boston Harbor Buoy is near 59F for a water temp.

    1. Boston Buoy is 60 Degrees while Stellwagen is 54 Degrees.

Let’s hope they warm some more in a hurry!!!

      Conditions at 44013 as of
      (2:50 pm EDT)
      1850 GMT on 06/12/2015:

Wind Direction (WDIR): ESE ( 120 deg true )
      Water Temperature (WTMP): 60.4 Β°F

  5. Evolution of upper air pattern says HOT in the extended period, but the surface pattern says “not so fast”, at least for the eastern coastal areas…

    1. Actually IF that means upper 70s immediate coast and 80s back from the coast
INSTEAD of mid-90s, then I’m all for that and Mrs. OS would be very grateful.

      THANK YOU!

  6. At 4PM Logan down to 75 Degrees with East wind at 12.
Blue Hill is 85 Degrees with South Wind gusting to 17!!
    Norwood 86 with South Wind.

  7. Heading down to Plymouth Harbor tonight to have dinner with some friends. Perfect night for patio dining. Can’t wait!

  8. Severe weather remaining west of SNE with tornado watch up for a good chunk of NY State

    1. If this warm front has really come through, are we at risk for any thunderstorms?
      All models say NO!!

      1. Although it was NOT tornado warned, look at the language they laid out for it:

THIS THUNDERSTORM IS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING ALL TYPES OF SEVEREWEATHER…INCLUDING EXTREMELY LARGE HAIL…DESTRUCTIVE STRAIGHT LINE
WINDS…AND TORNADOES. MOVE QUICKLY TO A SAFE SHELTER…SUCH AS AN INTERIOR ROOM…A BATHROOM OR CLOSET OR BASEMENT.

          1. It is worded that way because storms can be hybrids and mutate from non tornadic to tornadic and vice versa.

  9. Dewpoint jump of around 5F in just the last hour south of Boston, both Plymouth and Providence, I believe.

  10. Radar lighting up like a Christmas tree in New York State. There have been numerous severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings there and they continue.

    1. Sure is …

I just happened to have a chance to watch the Boston weathercasts at 6pm and depending on what future radar was being shown, there were some different outcomes as to whether these storms survive to Boston. The radar shown on ch 5 made it look like a strong storm could survive the trip all the way to Boston and arrive around 11pm.

  11. Tornado watch extended until 11pm and now covering 2 counties in VT and 1 county in western Mass.

  12. TK, you’re brilliant. You said not to worry too much about Saturday. Looks like very little rain, if any, will fall tomorrow on Block Island. I don’t mind if it’s cloudy and partly cloudy. Actually prefer that to hot and sunny, especially when biking.

Regarding Air Supply – when I was 16 my musical taste was (and still is) all over the place: From the saccharine (Air Supply) to the savage (Sex Pistols).

  13. Still feels wicked humid here in JP. OS I can tell you it was a huge difference when I left the office in southie right at the water vs. here at home. Temps was about 9 degree difference and wind was screaming at the water.

  14. I’m reading comments above. If the storms survive to here, can they still spawn tornadoes?

    1. Probably not ….. I dont think the conditions are as favorable in our neck of the woods …… Lets hope.

Dewpoint up to 68F here, S wind. Humidity front btwn Marshfield and Logan.

        1. Thanks Tom. Daughter in Uxbridge is aware. And I’ll stay up to watch blue bloods…..such a chore watching Tom Selleck :). Sure is a ton of stuff going on aΕ‚ong border

          1. I am thinking of watching the storms for a while longer and see if they maintain their intensity. I was watching the Red Sox until their pitching turned an 8 run lead into a 5 run deficit. Awful ……

I feel old because I remember watching Magnum, PI back in the day.

      1. Works for me :). Oldest grandchild is 8 tomorrow. He wants to go to Humarock at some point this weekend

        1. Happy birthday to him …. Hope they can make it down ….. Hope sometime in the future, you and Mac can return too !!!

    1. Yup, very very soupy, but even so, Storms are performing the
POOFARAMA!!! even BB said weakening fast. He doesn’t expect
anything south of the City, perhaps a dying shower in the city.

looking at that line, I say NOTHING in the City. We shall see.

I am NOT staying up much longer to see. It’s been a long week.

        1. Going, going ….. well, almost gone. Thunder all but gone, rain to follow. We actually could use some, and over night would be perfect. Oh well. Better luck next time.

  15. Temp report in Marshfield : big drop to 64F with a NNE wind.

I happened to be up at the seawall when this happened.

Accompanied by a line of dark clouds, under which there are scattered lower clouds absolutely flying by, a rush of wind roars in off the ocean. Within minutes, the ocean transforms from relatively calm to building 1-3 ft waves and the many flags wave wildly in the continuous gusts of wind. Never gets old ……..
