7:35AM
DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 2-6)…
High altitude smoke and a return of very warm to hot air will make today a classic late Summer day. However, an interruption comes Thursday as a pretty strong cold front slides down from the north as high pressure builds across eastern Canada. More clouds will develop and there may be a few showers and thunderstorms around, though probably more the exception than the rule. What nobody will miss is the flip to cooler air at night through Friday. As Labor Day weekend gets underway Saturday, it will start on the cool side but be pleasant by Saturday afternoon, then a warm up will be well underway by Sunday as high pressure that had come down from the north moves overhead then off to the south.
TODAY: Hazy sunshine. Highs 78-85 coast, 85-92 interior. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows in the 60s. Wind light W.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny. Isolated showers and thunderstorms midday and afternoon. Highs 78-85. Wind NW 5-15 MPH shifting to NE by late in the day from north to south.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 52-60. Highs 68-75.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 48-55. Highs 75-82.
SUNDAY: Sunny. Lows 55-62. Highs in the 80s.
DAYS 6-10 (SEPTEMBER 7-11)…
Fair and very warm to hot Labor Day September 7 and Tuesday September 8. Showers/thunderstorms possible with slow-moving cold front September 9-10. Fair and cooler September 11.
DAYS 11-15 (SEPTEMBER 12-16)…
Dry early and late period. Risk of showers mid period. Temperatures above normal.
Thank you.
Thanks TK.
Thank you as always, TK
On BZ this am. I read but have not had time to watch the video

Was it Charlie the mentioned early color?
I noticed this week a little color in the tree’s that general show early. This was along RTE 123 in Rockland/Hanover.
Matt Noyes just tweeted out a picture from East Brimfield, NH that is showing color.
It will be here before you know it.
It’s Fall
Autumn begins on September 23.

Thanks tk 🙂
Yes coastal, there r hints of color since about 2 weeks ago 🙂
Thanks TK.
SPC has us in general thunderstorm outlook for tomorrow.
What is the fall foliage forecast for this year?
The leaves will change color and or shrivel and fall…except some oaks. 😛
Wonderful day yesterday on Assawompset pond in Lakeville on an absolute 10
of a day.
Here are a few shots and no that is not I in the photo, that is my Brother-In-Law

Also, While out fishing in that boat, Mrs. JPD caught a couple of nice white perch
and missed a bigger fish, I got 3 decent white perch and my first ever Small Mouth
Bass. It wasn’t a particularly large fish at maybe 13 inches or so, but he took line and fought viciously making a spectacular jump completely out of the water. I was using
light spinning gear with 6 lb. test.
Nice !
Nice pictures and very exciting catches!
I have not been fishing since I was a kid. In fact my first time fishing I caught one.
😀
I don’t get to fish often, but I do enjoy it when I can. I Have since I was about 5 years old when my Grand Father took me fishing for the first time and yes I caught some fish.
I so miss fishing but I’ve said that. I need to figure a way to get back to it. I started around 5 also. As a teen and 20s year old I went nearly every weekend. Everyone was always amazed that I could actually sit still long enough to catch a fish, but I love the outdoors and nature too so it was always easy to just enjoy both.

Think there’s wind shear affecting Fred ? 🙂
I guess. SEE YA Fred, it was nice knowing you.
Wind shear dry air been the problems in the Atlantic this year.
Nothing about the Atlantic tropical season so far is unexpected. Sometimes the weather behaves itself. 😉
Thanks TK. I drove by a restaurant in Kingston and their sign said “Ericka is coming, take shelter here”. Talk about false advertisement!!!
I saw a sign on a restaurant that said global warming is increasing, come on in and relax in our AC 🙂
Warning: argument coming against “global warming.”
I read today that we are approaching another anniversary of the strongest recorded tropical cyclone to strike the US, the Labor Day Hurricane, back in 1935. Other notable storms; Carol in the 1950’s, the 1938 Hurricane, the Great Colonial hurricane back in 1635. Why does the media continue to say we have stronger hurricanes now and it’s due to global warming and the warming oceans? We have proof hurricane’s were just as strong if not stronger 50, 75, 100, even 400 years ago.
Good question because we don’t.
I’ll be honest we don’t believe really anything for or against it. Even when they say year after year this is the warmest earth has ever been every other year. I wouldn’t believe if they told me that we are cooling. I think many many would say the same thing. It’s turned into a political shit show, with all this political correctness crap. Enough is enough 🙂
But I will say the people that have beliefs, there the ones that have to puke it all over everyone every time it gets hot or cold.
May I point out the obvious and say you just puked all over those who actually have arguments – for or against.
Ace – I do not believe the prediction was for immediate increase. There is no question the ocean is warming. There is no question that we are destroying the earth. What causes the warming – which there is also no question of – and the ocean to rise – which there is also no question of – has yet to be determined. If we continue to ignore it IMHO, we will be in a mess.
http://www.gfdl.noaa.gov/global-warming-and-hurricanes
I fully knowledge there is some kind of change going on, man-made or natural, but the science IMO hasn’t proved without a doubt that stronger hurricanes are a result but yet the media always plays on it and creates that link without hard evidence.
We’d need thousands of years of record to even hope to solidly prove anything but as I always say it can’t hurt to take care of the only world we have. 🙂
Something is happening. We could ague that
it is a normal climatological cycle. My feeling is IF it is a normal cycle, then I would argue that man is adding to it and exasperating the problem. IF it is not a normal cycle, then man is solely responsible for it. I can’t see it argued any other way.
Exactly correct. However, we can only work with what we know. We know that climate has changed. We know that the ozone is depleting. We know that we are destroying this earth. If it is cyclical, then changing our ways will not hurt anything. If it is not cyclical, we will have cleaned up our mess. It is a win-win.
I agree with you, Ace. However, I think if we wait for without a doubt it will be far too late. I want my kids and my grand and grand grand and so forth to have a world that we have not destroyed. Even if climate is mostly cyclical which is very, very possible, there is no doubt our pollution of every corner of this earth, sky, water is very real.
Gonna be away from blog for several hours. Will catch up later.
I’m wondering if we may have a heatwave starting on Monday through Wednesday .
I hope not.
Not out of question if front is slow enough.
I agree and that’s why I bring it up. Some very warm air will be in here and it defiantly has a shot on sticking. I’m still wondering when was the last labor day weekend we were looking at such warm projected tempatures.
12Z NAM has backed off considerably on the instability parameters.
Still shows enough for T-storms, but not the outrageous amount it was previously
showing.
Unfortunately, the environment has become politicized. As with so many issues – which run the gamut from same-sex marriage to immigration to health care to gun control to global warming – we have become a polarized society. Almost no-one in our political landscape uses empirical or theoretical arguments anymore. Just soundbites, misleading facts, absolutist tenets, headlines solely meant to entertain or provoke, and sometimes blatant lies. I’m sickened by it. And, it’s not just the Donald Trumps of the world that revolt me (and he’s about as despicable a character as I’ve ever seen on the American `political’ scene). It’s also Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders who resort to empty rhetoric and populist messages that appeal to the lowest common denominator. There are bad people on Wall Street and corporate America. But, there are lots of good people there too. Let’s not demonize the capitalists or the immigrants (illegal or not). In the spirit of the Republican Teddy Roosevelt let’s be good stewards of this earth because we care about the environment, not because we want to assassinate the character of anyone who dares defy conventional wisdom on global warming. You can tell where I stand politically – it’s with candidates who don’t have a chance in hell: Kasich on the Republican side, and Chafee on the Democrat side. I can’t stand ideological rigidity, opportunism, and populism.
Wanna see a Hurricane model popping its cookies?????
Here is the GFDL prediction for Kilo at 126 hours:
http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/gfdl-p/2015090100/gfdl-p_mslp_wind_03C_22.png
That’s 873 MB, with top winds of 157.7 knots OR 181.47792 mph.
Ain’t gonna happen.
One bad data point will cause that.
Thanks, TK.
I believe we don’t have nearly enough evidence as tk suggested, and to start taxing etc etc to attack climate change is not right. It’s the same thing as endangered species, it’s always revolving, yet we get crazys that must do something. 🙂
This link is extremely funny, don’t take it as political, if you have a sense of humor it’s hilarious
https://www.facebook.com/DSouzaDinesh/videos/1176207839072536/
Couple of F words but not bad at all 🙂
Totally and completely disagree.
Why don’t we just bury our heads and the sand and pretend
everything is AOK. Yeah that’s the ticket.
And I absolutely agree with you, JPD.
Cold front, soon …… Puh-leeeeeeeeeeeze !!!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I am with you Tom. I always feel bad for the kids and teachers when they have to sit in schools without air conditioning. I know it cannot be comfortable for anyone involved.
Still way up in Canada
http://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/sfc/90fwbg.gif
Charlie, I’m not a crazy and I do care about endangered species. And, the people in the 1960s and 70s who helped clean the Charles and thousands of rivers and waterways, start anti-littering campaigns, minimize toxic dumping, remove leaded gas from the pumps, eliminate DDT spraying, organize recycling efforts, etc … were not crazies or drugged out hippies. Without many of those efforts we would have more endangered species and a dirtier place to live in. Sane environmentalism, establishment of sanctuaries for wildlife, national and state parks, a prudent regulatory framework for industry, etc … is crucial.
Worked my way down to here without replying to your earlier comment. I like your Teddy comment and have heard it before and wish we could move back to common sense. Although polarization has characterized this country since its infancy.
I thought you might be interested in this. Maybe I posted it before and apologize if I did.
http://www.nola.com/business/index.ssf/2014/06/louisiana_waterways_among_most.html
Thank you, Vicki, as always for your commentary and articles.
I think you are correct about polarization. And, it’s not unique to this country. However, I think that the addition of Cable News channels and politics as entertainment (eg, Republican debate last month was labeled a “huge success” because of “ratings”) have made things worse.
It looks just as warm next week for those schools that don’t have AC. Only temporary relief coming Friday and Saturday.

I think Boston hit 90
Just saw it flipping by on TWC and it showed Boston at 90 degrees.
It’s hit 90F eleven times now at Logan and yet, the highest at Logan all summer has been 92F.
This summer and last summer are almost carbon copies
I think last summer was a lot cooler .
Def not a lot cooler. We may end up with a few more 90+ degree days but in terms of the intensity of the heat, like last year, very few if any days in the mid to upper 90s.
we only had 3 days of 90 degree days in boston all of last summer and they came in beginning of july with one happening in june.
3Pm at Logan. 90 with dp 62
Last year some of the warmest temps to me were in early September and this maybe the case this year.
Another similarity with this sumemer and last summer no long spells have heat and humidity.
We just came of like a week of being humid .
My definition of long spell of heat and humidity is 5 plus days 90 or higher and dew points mid 60s and higher.
We have not had that this summer.
Agreed. And further, last year and this year very few if any mid to upper 90s.

Yup, Pete B definitely had a hair transplant.
I checked that this morning too. No doubt! I’d do it too if I could afford it. Looks great!
Think my son would also. He just shaved his head 🙂
I’m almost there, lol
And I’m guessing the next few years will seal the deal
If I recall you and my son are around same age. Seems young. However, I can assure you that from this old ladies perspective you are both quite handsome young men and have nothing to worry about 🙂
Just for the record, I’m 37 and completely bald. So I’m not making fun of him, just that it is quite noticeable. Don’t think I’d do it.
Short hair is the way men. I’m in the Barber chair every two weeks. I’m marine style triple 0 with razor fade all yr long.
Something was going down in Millis.
Shots fired at Millis Police Cruiser. Suspects fleed.
Apparently, 2 guys in a pick up were staking out the high school. A student
became suspicious and called the police. Somewhere along the way, the police
came upon the suspect vehicle and the suspects opened fire causing the cruiser to crash.
Oh dear heavens.
I’m getting more information from people in Millis than I
am from the news.
Still frustrating that not much is available.
I know the area of the incident very well having grown up in Millis and graduated high School there.
My daughter teaches High School in Medfield and all the teachers there knew about this, but Medfield decided not
to do anything.
The suspect(s) are long gone I am afraid, unless they ditched
their vehicle somewhere. From where the incident happened,
They would have had a bee line through Norfolk to Foxborough
and down 95. Although they probably would have feared getting nabbed via vehicle identification.
So if they ditched it somewhere, and there are loads of dirt roads going off into the woods in that area. The vechicle and They could be well hidden for now. I sure hope they
get him or them ASAP!!!
We don’t need all of the neighboring towns to be in lockdown
or shelter in place.
This happened awhile ago now Jpd. It’s actually two white dudes they are looking for in a dark truck. I would say probably kids shooting in the woods but there was a student eye witness who said there was a suspicious truck and he actually made eye contact . Watch ch 5 for the best news and weather around .
We are camping this weekend after school tomorrow.
I think in a 30 to 36 hr period from Saturday morning at sunrise to Sunday afternoon, we may experience temps from 45 to 50 at sunrise Saturday morning and then 85F + by Sunday afternoon.
Looking forward to the briefly chilly Sat morning 🙂
No school Friday Tom .
That’s correct John.
I wonder why pembroke didn’t do that as they go full day. Enjoy the camping Tom .
Very serious possibly. Let me qualify that…. Very serious. According to witness on wcvb truck was roaming around the school pointing to different parts of the school. With the shooting at officers only one can possibly imagine what they might have planned. Not good!
I had not seen that. This is terrifying
What is a bit unnerving is bomb threats were called into both Millis Middle and High School today..they were determined by police to not be credible, a car is seen acting more than suspicious at the high school, a police officer is shot at while investigating another bomb threat and they are not sure if these are related. All in the little town of Millis. Oh and the police officer was taken to a hospital but the state police report they are not aware of any related injuries
Seriously, who is writing this stuff ?
Yep and we were all born yesterday Vicki 🙂
I’d like to think I was 🙂
On the weather front, it was quite nice sitting outside tonight. Not quite firepit weather 🙂 but a nice little breeze. It is 72 with. 64 DP
It really is nice. Was out on my porch. Not taking nights like this for granted. Think the firepit weather will be here for Friday night.
I was thinking the same. Doctors warned us to be aware of mosquitoes with Mac but we can easily have a fire in the yard and watch from the porch. Don’t you love having a porch??
Absolutely! We spend a lot of time out there.
🙂
Wow folks we really have one summer weekend coming up. Get the grills ready , pool or whatever get out and enjoy. Pork roast on the grill Saturday. I’m wondering who gets in on the rain this afternoon .
New post!
