The Week Ahead

7:33PM

The heat will take a vacation this week as low pressure is the dominant force in New England’s weather. One low will sit and spin off the coast for the next 3 or 4 days (drifting away by Thursday), keeping the region unsettled and cool. Another low pressure area will set up shop south of New England at the end of the week, but it is unclear how close it will be and how much of an impact it will have. The forecast confidence drops off late in the week due to this uncertainty, so stay tuned for updates as we go through the week.

    1. Check out TK’s last entry in his previous blog…no repeat of summer 2009 in the long term. We just have to wait out this damp, chilly weather awhile longer.

  1. Thanks TK for the update. I guess my windows will remain closed until next weekend at the earliest. At least hot, humid sleepless nights won’t be an issue any time soon.

  2. I’m still in school till the 24th, so I’m totally fine with this weather, since my school doesn’t have and A/C, and it was a sauna in the school during those hot days last week.
Hopefully it doesn’t get too chilly in my school…

July should be a much different month, at least I hope so.

Perfect weather for me is 80 degrees, sunny, and a dew point in the upper 40’s with a slight breeze from the NW.

    1. Scott, getting dew points under 50 is somewhat of a challenge during the summer even around here, but I know what you mean…I like that combo as well when it occurs. 🙂

      1. Yeah i’ve noticed, especially being around a mild ocean during the summer months.

Amazing how low the dew points are in Arizona, 21 degree dew point in phoenix, and a 8 degree dew point in flagstaff. Probably due to all the down-sloping airs from the Rockies. But in return, they receive scorching heat.

  3. The WBZ trolls are back in full force this weekend and this evening is no exception. They are really picking on Barry and I find it absolutely disgraceful IMHO. 🙁

This is why I intend to always post over here on TK’s blog for the most part. 🙂

  4. This blog suits me, however I do miss the discussions put out by the WBZ Mets.
I just checked out WBZ blog, it really is a landfill made up of trolls.

    1. Best thing to do is just read their discussion and don’t bother clicking on the comments.

This blog is going to be expanding content as we move toward the end of 2011. I’m going to be able to spend much more time with it later this year.

  5. I noticed the trolls are back on the BZ blog. As I said yesterday I am tired of hearing its going to be the summer of 2009 all over again. Lets see where we are at the end of July. I remember until we had our first big snowfall the day after Christmas people were saying we were going to have a snowless winter and as we all know it was anything but that.

  6. Looks like a bummer week…..But that’s New England.

Hopefully, summer weather returns next week.

  7. As i take a look at the longer range, around the 20th, both the EURO and GFS 00z runs show a strong storm stalling over the upper mid-west, which could result in us warming up, however both the EURO and GFS were showing New England trapped in a stubborn trough in response to -NAO
Those in the mid-west could be dealing with a pretty bad flooding scenario if this solution verifies.

It has hit 60 for the first time since Friday…

  8. And the sun out in Boston as well, doesn’t take much to warm up quickly this time of year!

  9. Your right Hadi with the sun. When the clouds are around it has the cool feel then the sun comes out the temperatures shoot up.
So much for the Farmers’ Almanac severe thunderstorms especially for New England between June 16th-19th prediction. You can’t predict the weather that far in advance. They are amusing to read just like the trolls are on the BZ blog.
    GO BRUINS TONIGHT!
