Thursday Forecast

7:13AM

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 28-MAY 2)…
Dry weather lasts through Saturday as high pressure, though weak, remains in control and one low pressure area passes by to the south during Friday. The timing of the next system looks a little faster and track a little further north so cloudiness is expected to arrive by Sunday and wet weather by later Sunday or certainly Monday.
TODAY: Sunshine becoming more limited late with increasing high cloudiness. Highs in the middle 50s to lower 60s. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the 30s. Wind light N to NE.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny. Highs in the middle 50s to lower 60s. Wind E 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows in the middle 30s to lower 40s. Highs in the upper 50s to middle 60s.
SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain late. Lows in the 40s. Highs in the upper 50s to middle 60s.
MONDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain. Lows in the 40s. Highs in the 50s.

DAYS 6-10 (MAY 3-7)…
Unsettle weather may break briefly May 3 before returning May 4. Fair weather returning mid to late period, though the confidence level on this part of the forecast is not too high at this point. Temperatures below normal to start the period then milder later in the period.

DAYS 11-15 (MAY 8-12)…
Milder early period then cooling again. Episodes of unsettled weather.

  1. TK – Will those daytime highs be considerably cooler Saturday – Monday for the coastline as usual?

  2. Good morning and thank you Tk.
    Another beauty.
We shall see what today’s differential
Will be between Logan and my house, 6 miles away.

      1. that is from my stupid smart phone. For some reason it got messed up when I let the battery die.

If I don’t specifically enter JP Dave, it sticks that damn l on the end.

        1. It kept going to moderation so I finally just approved it. Your personality is so big you need 2 posting names anyway. 😉

              1. Whatever is best for you. I will try to deal with it on the smart phone.
You can leave JP Davel or keep it, your choice. 😀

        1. John, out of curiosity, and if you don’t mind me asking a general, ballpark range, what does redoing one’s driveway cost? Ours needs it BADLY but I’m afraid to get an estimate…

              1. I’m in the same boat, we need ours done desperately and a new drain installed to deal with flooding but don’t have the cash 🙁

                1. The previous owners put this driveway in, but it wasn’t done right and there are tree roots underneath. In the years that ensued, a huge dip was created, and other depressions as well. It NEEDS to be replaced but like you, no $$$

              2. We had to go across ours about 10 years ago to connect a washer to sewer. We had it recoated/resurfaced and I think it was under 1000. It was a double driveway. I cannot remember who we used but my son in law advised because he hadn’t had a good experience with a couple.

                1. I was thinking it would be too. Other than a huge trench in our driveway, the rest was fine. It sounds as if you and flowergirl need a total tear up but in case you didn’t I thought I’d told that out.

                2. Thanks Vicki 🙂 I plan to do a re-surfacing of the driveway this summer as a band-aid for now and maybe some use of bagged asphalt to try and level the areas that are really bad, but the larger water issue will need to wait.

        2. I was teasing, John. It was the way you worded your question but if I have explain it clearly was badly done :). Nice you are having it done.

  3. Bird question. I think there are several on here who have more knowledge of birds than I. We have several out here I’m not familiar with…eith by sight or call. One is black and a bit smaller than a cardinal. He has the sweetest song and always seems to start with what sounds like water dripping and then goes into song. Any ideas??

    1. I could identify a “Larry” Bird and perhaps a few others.
Cardinal, Blue Jay, Robin, Sparrow, various owls, hawks, eagles, crows, Grackles and perhaps a finch or 2, but that is about my limit. 😀

      1. That’s what I thought at first but I think it is smaller. It also didn’t have an orange bill.

      1. I am not sure if all blackbirds have orange beaks. This one doesn’t. I don’t think I want it in a pie 😉

I thought maybe purple Martin but I don’t know if they come up this way and I didn’t notice a purple sheen

  4. JpDave (or JpDavel), have you tried deleting your browsing history on your phone then re-entering your name in the field and saving it?

    1. I also had to set the privacy feature….or maybe that was only on my iPad. Big help I am today 🙁

      1. I checked. If your phone is set to private browsing it won’t remember your history, info prefilled in phones etc. if I reset my phone or iPad, it seems to revert to private. Maybe that happened when your battery ran out.

        1. Yeah, something happened when the batter went dead.
It affected the operation of several Apps as well.

      2. All set. I would have gotten around to it at some point, just had too many things ahead of it.

But many thanks for the gentle push, it got it done now instead of later. 😀

  5. Interesting weather map today. Northeastern Maine and also a ribbon of land that stretches across New Brunswick into the Maritimes are the coldest places in North America, with the exception of the immediate North Pole region, which would include the only permanently inhabited outpost: Alert. Most of Nunavut and practically all locales in the the Northwest Terrorities are (much) warmer than Northeastern Maine today.

  6. With so little cold or even cool air to our northwest, west, and of course southwest – all it will take to warm up Boston will be a stead diet of westerlies (highly likely as that is our prevailing wind, normally) and a moratorium on the seabreeze (also highly likely as spring transitions to summer). I actually like the weather we’re having, but I know that some of you are aching for warmth. It’s coming, folks. Patience.

  7. JP Dave, you are underestimating your birding skills. I’m quite sure you can also identify a mallard, pigeon, seagull, Canadian goose, swan, heron, and big bird from Sesame Street.

    1. Indeed, you are correct. I could easily identify those as well.
Even so, my birding skills are extremely limited.

Oh yes, I can identify a humming bird and have seen many in my day.
Last ones were in Lakeville last Summer.

I can also identify a mocking bird and a swallow. 😀
And a Loon, pellican, flamingo, parret, and ostriche and probably a few more. 😀

      That’s enough for now.

      I always liked Big Bird.

  8. there are sub species of Blackbirds, there are about 4 sub species found around here, Vicki, do you live close to a river/marshland ?? or deep woods or grassy area….

    1. Hi Matt. We have woods and lots of water/rivers around us. I’ll message you on FB so I don’t take up space here

  9. Got accepted to do 2 weeks of Marine and coastal Ecological research, on and off of Nantucket.. Now I hope, I get the 1000 dollar scholarship 😀

  10. Suckholz is at it yet again tonight.
3 runs already to the worst hitting team in baseball. PATHETIC bag of crap is he!!
