DAYS 1-5 (MAY 12-16)…
No big changes. Broad trough swings through the northeastern US over the course of the next several days. We transition from warm back to cool and go through a couple periods of showers during it, with the bulk of the wet weather occurring this evening and Saturday night, leaving much of the weekend rain-free.

TONIGHT: Mainly cloudy through evening with showers likely along with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Partly cloudy with patchy fog overnight. Lows in the 50s. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Partly cloudy. Highs upper 60s to middle 70s, coolest South Coast and Cape Cod. Wind SW 10-20 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Cloudy with showers likely. Chance of thunderstorms. Lows in the 50s. Wind SW 10-20 MPH and gusty, shifting to W.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny and windy. Highs upper 50s to lower 60s. Wind NW 15-25 MPH and gusty.
MONDAY: Partly sunny and breezy. Isolated showers. Lows upper 30s to middle 40s. Highs middle 50s to lower 60s.
TUESDAY: Sun followed by clouds. Chance of rain at night. Lows upper 30s to middle 40s. Highs upper 50s to middle 60s.

DAYS 11-15 (MAY 23-27)…
Risk of showers returns during the May 23-24 period. Fair weather May 25-26. Shower threat again late period. Temperatures near to above normal.
Thanks TK !
00Z GFS zigs back to warmth in the long range. Likewise, at the 240 hr mark on the EURO, it shows very warm air gathering in the northern Plains. And already a not too bad 10C or so over New England at 240 hrs.
Happy Friday to all !
Thank you TK! And I echo Tom’s comment…Happy Friday!!!
Thanks TK!
The NWS Discussions are no longer in ALL CAPS. They are in normal print.
They stepped out of their time machine on May 11.
Thank you, also happy Friday. And we start to see a change around may 20??? When have I heard that? Was so long ago that someone said we’d see it that I having trouble recalling…..hmmmmm 😉
Good morning and thank you TK.
Was completely overcast, but now I see considerable sunshine breaking out.
That should boost the temperature quickly, IF it stays more sunny than not.
Even so, very mild already.
Will it allow for thunderstorms? Ah, that is the question. 😀
Now back to mostly cloudy. Oh well. It’s still nice out.
Red Sox are on a tear!
Here are the main top nine players that actually bat each day:
Bogaerts, X .331
Bradley, J .328
Shaw, T .320
Ortiz, D .319
Ramirez, H .313
Pedroia, D .306
Holt, B .283
Betts, M .253
Vazquez, C .246
That is 6 out of 9 players are batting over 300! That is unbelievable.
What a formidable lineup!
This team is fun to watch and they may actually make it to the post season.
We have a meaningful sports Summer ahead, OR so it seems.
Boston buoy is coming in at 50.5 Degrees to start the day.
We’re getting there.
SREF is downplaying thunderstorms for Tonight and tomorrow night. I Suppose
there is always a chance, but this is not the set up for us. 😀
Never looked good this far east.
Thanks TK. Not bad at all outside. Last day of the semester for me. One more exam in an hour or so, and then heading home for the summer. Halfway through college 🙂
Good luck on your exam and enjoy the summer break!
Congratulations on the halfway mark and enjoy your summer break!
Don’t be in too much of a rush to get out. When you are my age you would love to be back in college. 🙂
Hey,
The wind is still EAST at Logan. What gives? I swear it was supposed to be
a SOUTHWEST WIND today. I can’t stand that location at all!!!
BTW, we just had a fire drill here at the office and we were all outside.
It ain’t no stinken 56 degrees here like it is at the facuckta airport! It is
very near 70 here for certain and we’re only a few miles from the airport.
The wind will probably shift as the cold front gets closer to our area.
I have SE there today. SW comes tonight.
SE it is. It appears to be all over, even inland locations.
Here is a surface map:
http://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/sfc/90fwbg.gif
I had S to SE regionwide.
Well, you got it correct. Not sure why I had
SW in my mind? Perhaps it was Eric last night?
I dunno, but I got the distinct impression it would
be SW.
Frankly, I am getting sick and tired of always
having an Easterly component to the wind.
Good chunk of rain to our West.
Does it hold together as it moves Eastward? OR does it do the usual
POOF?
That’s warm advection rain heading NE into VT.
Any idea on the rain arrival and departure. Sure has a tropical feel here in the city as I love it.
Me too. I like the higher dew points for sure. I have 74/60 at my house. In the late spring to summer, I prefer the dew point over 60.
It’s been 70’s to around 8o degrees this week. Love it!!!
Thank you tk
12Z GFS has some different timing on the arrival of very warm air, but like the 00z GFS, it has some very warm air in the long range.
I think a signal is starting to develop that 90F is possible in New England a bit before Memorial Day Weekend.
We’ll have to see if this signal from the GFS continues and if on the 12z EURO, there’s warmth building in the northern Plains on the 23rd.
Heavy, dark clouds moving in here. 72 with 59 dp and a summer feel from the get go early this am. Very nice!
Wind is South everywhere, EXCEPT you guessed it, Logan Airport Of course.
I think they have a gigantic fan sitting just off shore that perpetually blows in towards
the airport!
I’m a few miles from the airport and NO East wind here. Low clouds are ripping in
from the South and SouthWest.
Blue hill and Norwood both reporting a South Wind.
I love Logan 🙂
at 3PM Logan jumped to 73 with SOUTH wind. FINALLY!
67 with 59 DP. Wind light around 5 from SSW
For DP preference, if I have to choose, I would choose lower DP excel in those marvelous hazy crazy lazy days of summer which evoke some amazing memories from very young through …well, through feeling very young
I’ve said before if having to pick, and always enjoying every day, my favorite weather is September 1-August 32 in that order 🙂
And say what re Red Sox. I haven’t watched because word was on the blog that they suck…..now what do I do 🙁
If I could magically multiply into a crowd of 10,000 and give you a standing ovation for this post I would do that, especially the last 2 things. 😀
I’m not sure how anyone could think this Red Sox team sucks. Do they have deficiencies? Show me a team that doesn’t. They are the real deal. They’ll have some down days for sure, but this will be a fun team to watch this season.
Lovely soft rain. Love the sound and the smell
Enjoying that tonight.
Even grandson said how nice it sounds. Maybe one of my favorite kinds of rain …
Smart boy.
Has anyone seen the GQ magazine of Gronk? Geez what a superstar!!!!! Only 7 weeks till Nfl training camps take over again. We can’t wait!!!
A gentle rain is falling currently. Very nice!
I think it would have been a better cover if he had Bill Belichick on his shoulders.
Hahahahaha. Indeed it would have.
A new post awaits you all to start your weekend!
Have a good one!
