Happy 4th of July to all ! (What happened t0 the month of June, it feels like it was Memorial Day Weekend 2 minutes ago).
The year 2011 is half over…six months down, six to go. Regis Philbin mentioned that on his show one day last week. 🙂
Happy 4th of July to all of you today! I hope its a great day whatever you maybe doing.
The time sure has flown by and before you know it it will be Labor Day.
Thunderstorm Index only at a 1 today since I am not expecting severe weather but most spots appear to stay dry but just keep an eye to the sky and if the skies look threatening head indoors but it will certainly not be an all day washout. After today thunderstorm index takes a two day break but looks to return on Thursday as our next cold front approaches the area.
Happy Indepence Day to everyone from me also. It’s another spectacular day. We really have had a nice summer so far for one that seemed a bit rocky at the start! I hope everyone has a special 4th. Stay safe!
Happy 4th everyone- enjoy and relax.
TK, have a good time at the Esplanade tonight and I know you will tell us your thoughts on the fireworks!
Have a Happy 4th everyone! 🙂
Happy 4th of July everyone! Enjoy and have a great time whatever you do! 🙂
TK – let us know how it was at the fireworks!
Happy4th to everyone!! TK thanks for all the updates!
Clouds building to the north. Hope that line on the NH border doesn’t find it’s way to Boston.
Not to worry Vicki…those storms should stay well north of Boston. 🙂
Thanks Philip. I love storms but would worry about a million people stuck on the esplanade
My kids and I just came off of the beach and looking north and northeast is an ominous line of towering cumulus clouds. If it was a couple hours later, I’m sure the dark night would let us see some lightning. I’d say the clouds take up the northeastern quarter of the sky, I’m sure in Boston, they must be covering more of the sky and look a little more threatening.
On the radar, there seems to be cells developing further and further on the southwestern edge of the storms that are pushing through the north shore and there seems to be a slight southward shift to the whole line. Its going to be close for whether or not Boston gets clipped or hit.
Tom we were watching the clouds as we drove home from our daughters in Uxbridge. They are towering and fascinating aren’t they. I love nights at the beach when you can’t hear the thunder because the storm is too far away but the clouds light up on the horizon one after the other. Natures fireworks!!
Hi Vicki.
Your perfectly describing the sky to our north. The tide is low this evening and a beautiful sandy beach had emerged below the sea wall in Marshfield, just prior to the village of Brant Rock. My kids played for a while and it was also fun to watch the billowy clouds slowly pass by, one after another. I’m curious for the next Logan observation to see if a NE wind of cool air happens, emanating from the storm passing just to their northeast.
8:00 pm obs at Logan is 78F, NE 8 mph…spot on! 🙂
I am jealous. It’s such a beautiful sight. I’m very glad you and your family were able to enjoy it Tom
It would have been nicer if I’d been right about the storms being north of the Pike instead of south of it, but on the plus side, they did miss the Esplanade, though we did see CG lightning to the NE from the closest cell at one point. Otherwise, the storms visible in the distance, and the one not-so-distant, made for a beautiful sky. Not a drop of rain at the Esplanade. And the fireworks were indescribable. There is nothing like that show. I think some of you should come by next year if you can!
BTW I have a YouTube account under the name Topkatt88. The only thing on it are video clips I have taken from fireworks I have been at this season. I have yet to put up finale shots from Acton, Wilmington, and Boston, but those will be coming. I believe Winchester, Reading, Woburn, and Braintree fireworks are on there.
TK – I saw the video clips on YouTube of the fireworks you did from Braintree and Reading – Awesome! 🙂
I have to run – have errands to do – will look at the others later. Have a great day!
GREAT videos TK – thank you!!!! My plan is to one day reserve a room in the Hyatt overlooking memorial drive and the charles to watch the fireworks. I’m far past where I can sit on the esplanade all day 🙂
TK – BTW – thanks for sharing the video clips!
At 2:00 pm obs N.Y.C. has air temp of 87F and dew point temp “44F”…dp temp does not seem right, way too low based on climatology especially down there. Dp’s here in NE range from mid-50’s-mid 60’s at obs. time. Boston dp = 54F.
