9:33AM
DAYS 1-5 (AUGUST 26-30)…
A cold front swings through the region today with a few showers and thunderstorms possible, though any one area will be rain-free most of the day, and the threat will end during the afternoon from north to south, though the greatest threat for a heavier storm would be southeastern MA as the front will be in that area during the heat of the day. High pressure brings great weather this weekend. A disturbance moves through Monday with a shot of humidity and a risk of a few showers or thunderstorms before fair and drier weather returns Tuesday.
TODAY: Clouds most dominant this morning. Sun/clouds middle of day. Sun more dominant north to south later. Isolated showers and thunderstorms mainly midday north and west of Boston and southeast of Boston midday and afternoon with a locally heavy storm possible. Humid. Highs 76-82 South Coast, 83-90 elsewhere. Wind SW 5-15 MPH shifting to W.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 60-68. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 77-85, coolest coast. Wind light N to E.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 58-66. Highs 75-83, coolest coast.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Isolated showers/thunderstorms. Humid. Lows 60-68. Highs 78-86, coolest South Coast.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 58-66. Highs 78-86, coolest coast.
DAYS 6-10 (AUGUST 31-SEPTEMBER 4)…
A few showers possible August 31 or September 1 otherwise a dry pattern with temperatures mostly above normal.
DAYS 11-15 (SEPTEMBER 5-9)…
Mainly dry pattern with limited shower chances. Temperatures near to above normal.
first and happy birthday Nate.
Thanks TK !
Thanks TK!
Very dark and threatening here but no rain anywhere in SNE. All of it is draped across NNE. All based on radar as of 9:30 am.
Atmosphere is very heavy like it wants to pour any second but as I stated above, radar says otherwise.
Thank you TK. Drove through a brief shower as I came to work this morning. Sure wish it was a torrential rain!
Thank you, TK.
Thank you TK and enjoy your day. Happy B-DAY to your son.
Thanks TK. Hope everyone is doing well!!
Heading up to Attitash for the week and doubt we could ask for a better forecast up there.
Hi Hadi – it is ALWAYS so nice to see you here. Enjoy Attitash!!
Agreed!
Hello my friend! Hope you have a fantastic week!!!
Have fun Hadi!
Enjoy Hadi !
Dew Point at my house => 74!!!!
YIKES! C’mon enough is enough
At least have it cause some rain!
Now sun is peaking through. It is probably going to be one of those days.
Keeps trying to peak thru here also. The very thin layer of clouds gives the sky that really pretty baby blue shade.
JPD wunder says DP is 74 here also.
Yup, Mine is still reading 74. It flipped back to 73 for a while, but it is back to 74. BRUTAL!!
Latest guidance suggest any showers/storms in the Boston area would be
between Noon and 2PM IF any at all. Fat Chance, I say.
Good read about the tornado outbreak in Indiana the other day.
http://www.ustornadoes.com/2016/08/26/surprise-indiana-ohio-tornado-outbreak-august-24-2016-happened/
Outstanding and thank you JJ for sharing.
Agree fat chance for any rain here for at least a week if not more. We will break the driest Jun-Aug. interesting though that Jan-Aug we are not even in top 10 driest.
it is but I believe I read a statement from Noaa that from Febuary to now has been. I think its more to do with the below normal snowfall of last winter and below normal rainfall of spring that has lead to this drought more so than the dry summer weather.
Something popped down around Tauton. 😀
And then there were more. A bunch of cells just instantly popped down by
the Cape Cod Canal. Go figure. NOTHING for us!
Interesting ….. and there’s a light shower popped overhead here too.
This surface map says there is plenty of time before the front moves through.
So c’mon why don’t you spit out some rain?????????????????????????????

I have not had a chance to read in its entirety – work does get in the way of things 😉 But before I lose it, I thought I’d post the link here.

Fascintating stuff. I LIKE.
Thank you for sharing.
If I may ask? How did you come across this. Nice find.
JR shared on FB. I thought it was great also. Did manage to finish reading
Great piece. Thank you, Vicki.
Nice Vicki !
Great stuff Vicki…thanks for sharing!!!

That mini vortex is stubborn …..
Some,fairly high clouds here.
Looks as if JJ had or has some action right around his area.
Crazy rain in Waltham right now…like sideways and hard.
Crazy Rain.
Isn’t that by Ozzy Osbourne?
Go to lunch and come back and ACTION!
Cell “just’ to the South of the office and some N&W West of the City ie Waltham. 😀
Will any of those make it into the City? We’ll know soon. 😀
Noticed the same thing. From my window perched up on the 11th floor looks like quite a bit of action to our south, perhaps Blue Hills area (not sure), but nothing in Boston. It’s crazy that all summer we’ve been having the same discussion.
Sad, isn’t it. From where I sit, the action to the South looks
low topped to me.
According to Boston Nexrad, that cell to the South has
tops of 6,000 feet. That’s about what it looked like
to me. 😀
The 12Z GFSL has totally and completely LOST Invest99-L, while the 12Z HWRF
maintains the same theme for 3 or 4 runs in a row now.
Currently at hour 105, it has it as 959MB in the Gulf. Waiting for the completetion
of the run.
As long as we are fantasizing, how about the 12Z GFS at hour 384.
http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/gfs/2016082612/gfs_mslpa_us_53.png
With 250MB winds:
http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/gfs/2016082612/gfs_uv250_us_53.png
12Z HWRF is complete. 939MB goliath poised to strike the Western
panhandle of Florida, almost over to Mobile, Alabama. (On this run anyway)
http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/hwrf/2016082612/hwrf_mslp_wind_99L_43.png
the 12Z CMC has a similar theme to the HWRF only takes it into the Texas Gulf coast
and not nearly as strong either.
http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/gem/2016082612/gem_mslp_pcpn_frzn_scus_24.png
UKMET has a similar theme as well only a very weak system.
http://grib2.com/ukmet/CONUS_UKMET_SFC_SLP_144HR.gif
And as the Cells approached the CITY, POOFORAMA!(@#*!*(@&#(!*()@#*)!*@#()
What is the a barrier on the City limits? What gives here?????????????
I think that was our last shot of the day. See Ya! Good-bye.
NO MORE RAIN this month.
Logan zooms to 90F at 2pm.
Heat index = 96
There’s been some rain from Waltham to Lynn, Nahant to Salem, and Hull to Scituate, but zilch in Boston. Unbelievable. I’m sure the ducks are thinking the same thing. Yesterday’s NAM had them all excited, but when I see them on my way home they’ll all be quacking the same thing – crap, crap, crap, crap.
Lol!
ROTFLMAO!!!
Story of this Summer for sure.
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
hahahahahaha
And why do I want to repeat the old child’s game…trot trot to Boston, trot trot to Lynn, trot trot to Salem and we all fall in…Somehow poor Boston has been left out
This article is a bit over my head in meteorological terms, but I’m sure some of you will be interested:
http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-37177575
I just had clouds…nothing more 🙁
Zoomed out version of the HWRF 12Z run.
This would NOT be good.
http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/hwrf-p/2016082612/hwrf-p_mslp_wind_99L_43.png
Also worth noting that the 12Z Euro keeps the same theme as the 0Z Euro.
In other words nothing but the weakest system meadnering across Florida and then
out to sea. Not even worthy of a link.
I guess this looks a little better?

I believe the Front is through Boston. DPs very slow to fall.
Logan is down to 70. Still 72 at my house.
80 here with 70 DP. Falling slowly here also.
80?
Are you sure that isn’t 90?
It’s 91 at Logan
My thermo is reading 92.
DP also down to 70 at my house. Very slow fall. The drier air is lagging behind.
It best get here in a hurry!
For some reason, the TV mets are saying that Logan hit 90 today but you are correct JPD, it is 91F.
19 days of 90+…and probably counting.
It was 90. I am grateful you are here to help me with my mistypes. Thank you sir 🙂
It may be only 80 next weekend, Vicki. We shall see. 🙂
Soon enough womt it be
It was really dark and threatening this mid-late morning but not even a sprinkle. 🙁
It was here earlier today also and then poof
The darker look to the sky this morning was the advection of warm/humid air into the region. The showers from that were supposed to be across NH/ME and they were. Although a few isolated brief downpours were down in far southeastern MA early.
The stuff midday and afternoon basically followed script. The weather cleared out nicely north and west as expected and the heaviest showers/storms were to the southeast. Never expected this stuff to be widespread, and it was not. We didn’t have the atmosphere for it today.
Awesome day at Water Country. Home just in time for a small party for Nate and the Pats game. 🙂
Enjoy the celebration Nate. And the game.
Happy birthday Nate and thanks TK.
P.S. .. Still carrying the same idea on 99L. Most of the moisture up the peninsula. Lack of full development. Maybe some development if a center can form and get into the eastern Gulf, though that would be brief.
Reminder: The ECMWF is not reliable for these things very far in advance and especially with undeveloped systems.
Irony: The GFS was basically the only one to get the lack-of-development correct to this point.
Sloppy offensive game so far.
And Matt Chattam needs to just go away.
Jimmy G needs to be out there every snap.
Hehehehe. My guess is BB has a plan 😉
I hope he looks better in 2 weeks, because this isn’t gonna cut it.
0-8 on third down. Pathetic
the Patriots defense is a beast
Yea, they are. When Sheard gets back they’ll be a force.
They’ll need it too. I’m afraid the offense is going to be little anemic. Hopefully they can win some games with 17-20 points.
Down to 69.8 with a 66 DP…..slowly she turns …step by step….inch by inch….point by point
Niagra Falls
Ha! Well done.
Play cannot stand. No TD

Ab-Fab as usual!
For the second week in a row, the Pats defense gave up the last TDs of the game. Fortunately, the Panthers kicked their onside kick out of bounds.
I thought BB would have by now mentioned to the defense that the game is 4 quarters, and not 3 1/2.
A lot of the guys that were on the field for that final touchdown will be bagging groceries at Stop and Stop on 9/11 when the Patriots are in Arizona.
😀
