    1. It is nice. I’m sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee enjoying the breeze and the sounds of Sunday morning. But then every morning and every day is nice.

    1. I think the pats game is early enough but I was wondering what the pats do if there is a thunder storm. I do not recall a thunder storm during a game in recent years and it just made me curious

      1. I don’t believe there is a thunder threat for today but if it were to occur, both teams would leave the field and resume after the storm clears the area.

      2. The chance of a thunderstorm during the game is probably low.
IF one were to believe the HRRR, it shows some convection
heading Southeastward, but performing a pooforama before
reaching Foxborough in the 2-4 PM time frame. If no poof, then it is possible.

And then, I do not know what they do. Can everyone fit underneath the stands? I’ve never been to this new stadium, only when it was the piece of crap stadium.

They can leave fans in the seats with active lightning. They just can’t. Way too dangerous. I would imagine those light
towers get struck often. Imagine being in the seats just below one?

        1. Thanks Pilip and JPD. I was not clear as usual it just got me to wondering what they would do if there were ever one. And I sure would not want to be in those stands.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK.

The weather ding bat on channel 4 last night was calling for widespread beneficial rains
of 1-3 inches. Kind of clashes with TK’s forecast. Hmmm, I wonder which forecast
    is more accurate???? 😀

    Haven’t looked at anything yet.

Temperature here is 77 with DP 68. YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!

    1. Very interesting….

The 6Z 4KM NAM has a whopping 0.12 inches for Boston through 2PM
Tuesday. Now there’s some beneficial rain for you! Of course it is only
      1 model. 😀

      Regular NAM about 1/2 inch

Euro, about 1/2 inch to an inch or so

      Pick your posion. 😀

Sure doesn’t look like too many locations exceed an inch, does it?

  2. NWS still at it: re: tornado

In addition, dewpoints climbing to around 70 will yield low LCLs,
and nearby frontal boundary may provide favorable environment for an
isolated, short-lived tornado. Confidence in this occurring is very
low, but cannot be completely ruled out either. Just something to
keep in mind right now. Appears that the better chances of storms
will be across northern CT into western and central MA. Southerly
flow should inhibit storm development farther south and east.

  3. So far, any rain that is there is way off to the north and west. General movement is southwest to northeast and not making any headway east. If I were a betting man if say most in SE areas see little to no rain out of this.

    1. Weekend night’s on channel 4 are Devoid of a competent meteorologist.
So sad. They should do something about that. It’s a crying shame.

    1. It’s a simulation so it has to place it accordingly. The high res short range is improving in this area of cell placement but there is a way to go yet…

  4. Latest from NWS, still at it

In addition, dewpoints climbing to around 70 will yield low LCLs,
and nearby frontal boundary may provide favorable environment for
an isolated, short-lived tornado. Confidence in this occurring is
very low, but non-zero. Just something to keep in mind right now.

  5. Vicki, JPD…I have only been to the stadium once and that was a couple years ago for a UMass football game but I suspect that there would be a mandatory evacuation of the seating area at the very least with an option of underneath the stands below, Patriot Place or your car. There is likely a specific plan for severe wx in place but I don’t know if it has ever been actually executed for real. They do have Revs games as well all summer.

  6. Boy, drought is persistent. Echoes moving this way keep drying up.
Of course, they could be running into less favorable lift areas, but I’m
sure the persistent drought doesn’t help it either.

    Later maybe? Hopefully?

  7. Now the 15Z HRRR spares Foxboro, but gets Boston somewhere in the 2-4 PM
time frame. Right, and I’m Santa Clause. I’d wager not a drop in Boston through
midnight anyway. We’ll see after that. 😀

    GAME TIME!!!!

    Later. 😀

  8. Since the Red Sox will be on the road in Baltimore, it can rain all it wants to tomorrow without having to risk a double header. The only issue I have is that the late game tonight may have a great affect on our players tomorrow night. Probably not much opportunity for rest. These late Yankee games usually don’t end until near or even just after midnight. Frankly, I wish MLB would stop these late Sunday games.

      1. More for him than us. He was showing us he is ready and darned if I’d want to fill the shoes that are vacated for four games.

What we do know is if anyone had doubts….which I never did…he has the makings for a tremendous QB

    1. The acromioclavicular joint, or AC joint, is a joint at the top of the shoulder. It is the junction between the acromion (part of the scapula that forms the highest point of the shoulder) and the clavicle.[1] It is a plane synovial joint.

If that is the case, better news that what it could have been.

  9. That’s just speculation at this point.
He’s out a month at best. I could be wrong obviously. What I do know is the pats will have to bring in a quarterback this week. And it’s a short week. Thursday night game against Houston.

    1. B7 looks ok , maybe a veteran to back him up. Heard this information from Nfl network and a few other sources.

      1. B7 actually looked better preseason than 10G. But I’m thinking he won’t play like we have seen season like 10G has…especially today

        1. thats expected, they will have a game plan though for B7 for Thursday night if infact Jimmy g can not play,

  10. It’ll be interesting to see who belichick brings in. Brissette will start though. He knows the offense.

  11. I’ll say it again. Bad time for a Thursday game. I’m sure that scheduling was just a fluke thing to coincide with the 4 game suspension. 😉

  12. One score game now.
Think we had a thunder here in Taunton about 20 minutes ago.

Peyton Manning is on his couch now. (haha)

  13. TK:

Can other members of WHW submit trivia questions?
    I sure enjoy Longshot’s entries.
I’d like to try a couple of questions if it’s okay.

    1. Very fun. Even though these may or may not be first ever, it is exciting that we recorded and tracked. Thank you, Matt

  14. Hope that is true about Jimmy G., no broken bones.

Sprain or separation are so much better in terms of recovery an down time.

I think the likihood is now that Pat’s for 3-1 or 2-2 for the 1st 4 games.

I think QB 7 will need the whole game Thursday just to get comfortably acclimated.
Thursday is a likely loss, but I think he beats Buffalo. He could also lose to Buffalo, but
I think he wins that one. Time will tell.

He just needs more work. I think he will become a very capable if not excellent
    QB in the future.

Knowing the Pats, they’ll probably find a way to win both games. 😀

  15. Amazing how much influence the DP has on the feel of the day. Temp here is same as yesterday. Yesterday, people were wearing slacks and light sweatshirts or jackets. Today, everyone is back in shorts.

    1. Indeed so. Fortunately, it is not dp of 69 in the house.

I have 80 with 59% humidity in the house. There is formula for calculating that.

It comes out to 64, instead of 69. 😀

  16. To answer the above question about trivia..

ANYBODY can submit them. Longshot started the tradition and I’d love to see it continue with him and others. I’ll try to do some of my own as well. Fun stuff. 🙂

Pats: Very fun game to watch, if not a bit nerve-racking. But that’s ok. They won. Jimmy will be OK soon. Tom will be back not long from now. And the new kid got some experience. It’s all good folks!

I saw a local TV station say that beneficial rain was materializing for tomorrow, but I still have my doubts about widespread beneficial rain. We’ll see who, if anyone, lucks out. I’m staying with the lower #’s.

If you remove the GFS’s precipitation error that mysteriously resurfaced yesterday, it shows very, very little precipitation for Boston and vicinity for the next 15 days.

      1. Look at the difference between the 4km and the 12km in terms of coverage of 0.50 inch or greater.

Experience says go with the 4km out of the 2 of those on this type of system. I’d give it a 2-in-3 chance of verifying versus a 1-in-3 for the 12km.

    1. The new kid sis darned well in the preseason. It was not nerve wracking….it was Vicki was banging her head….mostly because I was disappointed for G10 and so wanted them to hold the game for him. And now, I have a headache 😉

  17. Jimmy G. out 6 weeks. So the WORST the Pats do during the 4 games without TB is 2-2. I think they go 3-1. They’ll need solid D both games. Big time solid D.

    1. I would rather win the divisional games than the texans, but would be nice to beat the texans as well. Just do not see it though, they are very good this year.

    2. I absolutely agree. And many fans were saying 2-2 or even 1-3 with G10….Silly them to underestimate him. I seem to also recall even with Brady in the game many wrote them off in the not too distant past.

    1. Right, so they are taking a model forecast verbatim.

It’s ok to say there may be some showers/storms with heavy downpours around, but then they throw on a model forecast to pinpoint the storms exact location which only has a 50/50 chance at best of verifying reasonably close to that with respect to location and time.

And to further this point, somebody I was talking to earlier today asked me “So what happened to the 1.68 inches of rain they forecast for us for today a few days ago?” I’d rest my case, but it has insomnia.

  18. I am happy my Cowboys won today. Too bad the Saints lost to the Giants or we would be tied for first. Dak Prescott has looked solid through two games and big win going into Washington today.

    1. I’m going to go out on a limb and say our friend Hadi is NOT happy about the Cowboys winning today. 😉

  19. Something Vicki said above re the feel of the air. She’s right. Yesterday it felt coolish, but the DP today fixed that. I got out of the pool earlier and if felt nice.
I did see a few yesterday with fall type clothes on. Made me seat just to see it.
I’m in shorts, flip flops, and a hoody till November. When I put on socks and real shoes it’s cold. I loathe socks. From April to early November, I’m in flip flops and shorts.
I was in San Diego last December 2-5, and I went out at night with a long sleeve shirt, shorts, flip flops. It was 63. Lady asked if I was cold. I told her I was from Boston. We only wear a hoody until it hits 20, then we might put on a sweater 🙂

    1. Hehe. I also hate socks. And jackets. Unless I am out for a long walk at night in the coldest of nights I don’t wear a jacket. That is my sweatshirt weather for outside but long sleeved tee foe inside. I also keep heat around 60 if that and turn off at night. You’d be amazed at how many strangers give me a hard time about no jacket.

  20. I’m pretty confident the lower rainfall numbers will verify in most of southern New England. Generally around half an inch, with localized higher (and lower) amounts possible.

As for the Pats, very glad they hung on. The near collapse in the 2nd half was certainly not all on the offense. After a phenomenal first half the defense just stopped playing it seemed like. Probably had the wind out of their sails a little after the Jimmy G injury, plus a much more confident Miami offense. Remember, most people were thinking 2-2 would be fine to start the year. Now that’s worst case scenario. Granted, Thursday night is a likely loss, but maybe we’ll beat Buffalo. I certainly don’t think Brissett is ready for the big-time, nor should he really be expected to be, but the key will be devising a simple, workable offensive game plan for the next two weeks, centered on a running game.

    1. I didn’t see your comment when I posted above. I agree that the injury affected both teams. And I get that. We will see how 7B does 🙂

  21. I have a trivia question of sorts but I have no answer. Back in 2001 when Bledsoe went down, who was Brady’s back-up? I know that Bledsoe was Brady’s back-up during the playoffs but what about that regular season?

With all that has happened today, it suddenly came up in my mind.

  22. One comment regarding the game . The pats should consider putting in Julian for Thursday’s game and protect the hell out of him . There are plenty of receivers so one game won’t be that bad . Than for the bills game play this other dude . Just a thought .

    1. As an u qualified fan, I’d rather see 7B than risk edleman. They do have options for backup. One is edleman. No matter what happens, I’m happy to let BB figure it out and trust him

Thanks for your earlier advice John. We will wait and see what happens with ban before seeding.

            1. Now that I know zones and sort of how to work the system (hehe I like that term), I’m just doing macs garden a little

  23. HRRR has not done a great job tonight. It’s over-forecasting rain. Can’t say I’m overly surprised. It had moderate to heavy showers where there are just sprinkles and light showers.

  24. Pats Win, Sox Win, Canes Win, it’s been a pretty good weekend sports-wise for my rooting interests (we’ll just ignore Team USA in the World Cup). Back to weather for me now. Posted my Weekly Outlook, with a good laugh for everyone at the end (or a sign of things to come?)

    https://stormhqblog.wordpress.com/2016/09/19/weekly-outlook-september-19-25-2016/

As for the rain today, I’m not expecting a lot, because frankly, every time the models seem to forecast a lot, it doesn’t pan out. Until it actually happens, I’m not falling for that trick again.
