  1. And I believe today may be Weatherbee2’s birthday. If so, very happy birthday. If not, very happy day 🙂

  2. Latest link to names/towns.

TK, this is probably everyone. I’ll try to remember to post a request at the top of your blog comments tomorrow and then will call it final. I’ll also keep an eye for any new folks and see if they want to be added.

    1. I am seriously wondering if some locations take a run at 80 even
      today.

Bedford and Lawrence were already 75 at Noon.

  3. We should make a run at 80. Dry ground from all the sun yesterday helps. Matt Noyes also brought up a very dry airmass that helps boost temps. Overachieving for sure.

    1. I mentioned this very early this morning on the previous blog. The models often underestimate early-season warmth around here. I wouldn’t be shocked if we have widespread lower to middle 80s away from the south coast tomorrow, with even a few readings of 87 or 88 sprinkled in.

  4. Happy Passover tonight to all in the WHW family who are celebrating!
Have a blessed and special evening with family and friends!

  5. Looks like too much of a southerly component to wind to allow 80 near the coast. Loops like logan may have topped at 73 perhaps 74.

I see it is 80 at Fitchburg.

  6. I’d like to join Captain in wishing those who celebrate Passover much joy and many blessings today and in the year to come.

    1. Shock to my system after skiing in 15 degree wind chills on 3 feet of snow at Killington a mere 48 hours ago!

  7. I still find it amusing that the general population seems so traumatized by the thought of snow. It’s like suddenly nobody can handle anything that in most cases, especially this time of year, doesn’t even cause much of a problem when it occurs.

The other amusement: Folks act like they have not been in any air 70 or higher for months on a day like this, when they spent 90% of their winter (in most cases) in heated air of 70 or higher inside a house, building, or car.

I’m sure some folks are disgruntled at this observation, but that’s the way I see it. 😀 Not making fun of anyone specific, just the quirks of society. It’s a hobby that I enjoy very much. 😉

        1. Hehe. The song is one I hum a lot while food shopping though. Another talent lost far too young. The 60s and 70s sure were turbulent times. I think my generation forgets that when they reminisce about the good old days…a lot of good to be sure but a lot of horror

          1. I am a big fan of that song and of that band. And I have found myself humming, whistling, or singing that tune after certain observations in my travels. 😉

    1. there is a difference of 70 and higher outside than 70 or higher inside. Huge difference in my opionion. Most people say 70+ is when the shorts come out but that is only outside. though I start wearing shorts when its in the 50s. I get hot easily .

  8. Oh yes, we didn’t do a contest on it this year, but my brother’s snow pile melted today. That makes April 10, April 11, and April 10 the last 3 years.

  9. Hit 82 degrees today, it felt nice getting on the bike again and not having pain in my ankle. It has been a long time since I felt this good after exercising. My goal is to get back to my old active self.

I do have to say my first mosquito slap killing happened last night. I have a bad feeling about this mosquito season

    1. We had tons of mosquitoes out tonight. I seem to recall it gets bad about now and then gets better before mid summer when back to bad. Hopefully, this isn’t an indication of the season

Son in law had a couple of ticks but they stay out all year

  10. One my favorite kind of weather days.

Low at my house 34 and high of 80

    Chicopee Falls 33 and 79

    Westfield 34 and 81

Diurnal temps swings in valley locations probably excite me as much as any kind of weather. Makes me a special kind of weather dork…

        1. I knew that. See. Never question that we don’t read your comment 😉 😉

FWIW the vlb supports slightly lower temps

    1. Dewpoints in the upper 40s to lower 50s. That’s pretty humid….for February. For April through October, not so much.

    2. Pretty dry air. The only “humidity” would be Wed during the passage of the showers and any t-storms that manage to survive the trip or pop up during the day. Not too big on the t-storm threat right now.

  11. Speaking of the Brazilian…
Check out this very close lightning strike from Brazil on April 2.
If you happen to speak or understand Portuguese, the person driving the vehicle is basically cursing. 😛

The lightning strike is on a small pole about 3 feet tall on the side of the road in a cut-in. Note that there are taller trees very close by that are unscathed. Lightning does NOT always strike the tallest object around. It’s all about which upward streamer makes contact with the stepped leader.

    1. Thankfully, 00z EURO nowhere near in agreement.

I hope the EURO projected scenario is closer to reality. Cape Cod bound next week and hoping for 50s, not raw upper 30s to mid 40s.
