Sunday Forecast

8:32AM

Happy Easter to everybody celebrating today!

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 16-20)
Atypical? Nah. Today is quite representative of the warmer side of what we can see here at this time of year, as recently we saw some of the colder side, and within a few days we’ll be reminded of that chill once again. First we have a summerlike southwest wind today providing the very warm conditions, but a cold front, which may produce a shower or thunderstorm in a few locations this evening, will put an end to the top-end warm weather and knock it back to a “very mild” place for Monday, which may still be a bit warm for marathon runners, though they will enjoy a brisk tail (and slight cross) wind along the Boston Marathon route and will not be greeted by a chilling ocean wind this year. That wind will wait until Tuesday when high pressure orients itself in such a way to turn the wind northeast, and you’ll know it, especially near the coast. This high should hold enough and slip far enough southeast to turn wind more southeasterly to southerly by Wednesday but low pressure from the west will bring unsettled weather by later Wednesday and Thursday.
TODAY: Sun and high clouds. Highs 60-68 South Coast / Cape Cod, 68-75 far southeastern MA, 76-85 elsewhere. Wind SW 10-20 MPH, gusting 25-35 MPH.
TONIGHT: Variably cloudy. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms early. Lows 52-60. Wind W 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 66-73. Wind NW 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 46-53. Wind N 5-15 MPH with higher gusts.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny except mostly cloudy eastern coastal areas. Highs 48-55, mildest interior areas. Wind NE 5-15 MPH with higher gusts.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy. Late-day or nighttime rain possible. Lows 40-48. Highs 50-58.
THURSDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain and drizzle. Lows 40-48. Highs 45-53.

DAYS 6-10 (APRIL 21-25)
This looks like a period of unsettled weather with temperatures near to below normal.

DAYS 11-15 (APRIL 26-30)
This should be a period of drying weather with temperatures near to above normal.

  1. Thanks, TK.

Happy Easter for those who celebrate and Happy Passover for those who celebrate.

    It’s a beautiful day – a taste of summer.

    1. Indeed,

Are we going to see high temperatures Overachieve once again?
Tk has 85 at the top range. Last night Barry had 84 for Boston.I have 76.8 on the low thermometer and 80 in the high one. Is suspect the actual temp is somewhere in between them. 😀

      We shall see.

      1. Most areas will be in the range, but we’ll have 2 or 3 major stations that come in 86 or 87.

  2. Good morning and thank you TK.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate.

    busy weekend.

I do NOT like what is coming up next week.
Request: Please make it the end of that crap.

  3. Here are the record high temperatures around the area for today from NWS:

    .CLIMATE…

Warm as it is, unlikely to reach record highs today.

    BOS 87/2012
    PVD 88/2003
    ORH 88/2012
    BDL 92/2012

hmmm, that 87 at Logan is NOT complete out of the question, given how warm it is already. We shall see.

  4. Boston buoy water temp (16 MN East of Boston)

    Water Temperature (WTMP): 45.1 °F

That is an improvement, but we need to see it move upward more.
Not likely to happen this week.

  5. Happy Easter everyone!

Glad to know the mother and baby giraffe are bonding nicely. 🙂

I am now curious as to where Matt got that “bogus” news…of course with social media these days, it is not surprising I guess. 😉

    1. Perhaps even 81. The high one is in the sun and although it has a fan to offset
the suns effects, it is not perfect. Can run as much as 4-5 degrees high in full
bright sunshine. Of course part of that is the asphalt roof under the floor of the deck on which it is mounted.

  6. 11Am at Logan, 80 Degrees with WEST wind.

That West wind is a TOASTY wind direction NOT only because there is no component
off of water but there is Downsloping going on which heats the air up some. 😀

  8. Happy Easter everyone!

Not sure if anyone saw this article, but Caribou Maine just broke the record for the most consecutive days any winter with a foot or more of snow on the ground. The streak hit 132 days this past week before it finally melted down to 7″. Pretty incredible record for a place that is accustomed to a lot of snow and cold temps.

  9. 85 at BDL as of 2pm. NWS just upped the high to 88. Not gonna reach the record of 92 but it’s a hot one nonetheless!

  10. Thanks, TK.

    Happy Easter!

A preview or taste of summer. We had a day like this recently. It gets one accustomed to heat and even some humidity, not that I ever truly feel comfortable in it. The trees, vegetation, and wildlife, on the other hand, are absolutely thrilled. The birds (sparrows and a grackle) actually woke me up at 3am. The early risers will do this in springtime. I’m a notorious light-sleeper and so anything and everything will wake me up.

Looks like Northern New England may get some snow later this week. Their snow season is far from over. But even there signs of spring abound.

  11. Mark, thanks for sharing the Washington Post article on Caribou, Maine. After reading that I’m considering moving there … Not … It would be too remote and isolated. But, gosh would love seeing lots of snow on the ground for 132 straight days.

  12. We were able to take our Kayaks out on the pond today for the first time this year. Never have we been able to get out this early. It was truly amazing. Mid 80’s with almost unlimited visibility and no other boats because it’s too early for anyone to have their docks in the water. This will definitely turn out to be one of the top days of the year in my book.

  13. They ran out of burgers, so yes. I’ll have a better one for breakfast at Fenway tomorrow. 30th consecutive Patriots Day game for me.

      1. Oh dear….work on Easter night. I will sing extra loud so maybe you can hear me. I’ll be the one singing off key 🙂

    1. Thank you, Dr S

Whatbos it people see. At least four people (minimal yes) have said to me today that we’d better enjoy today as the rest of the week will be nasty. I wonder what their definition of nasty is.

  14. Nice to see that 7F dewpoint drop last hour at Logan. I would think that should help the runners a little bit.
