DAYS 6-10 (JULY 4-8)
High pressure dominates Tuesday July 4 with drier and seasonably warm summer weather based on current timing. Increasing humidity again July 5-8 with a risk of a few showers and thunderstorms at times as a southwesterly flow returns.
DAYS 11-15 (JULY 9-13)
Some uncertainty continues. Current thinking is fairly muggy weather with occasional showers and thunderstorms, but no long-lasting rain, during this period.
TK thanks and have a good July 4th weekend.
Sue, just read about your father’s passing. I am so sorry to hear that. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
Thanks, TK.
Good morning and thank you TK.
Thanks TK!
Happy Birthday iPhone! 🙂
While on the subject, when charging overnight is it better to turn the phone off completely or leave it on? I actually do both. Which is best or does it matter at all?
Btw I have only owned one since 2015. Took awhile to give up the flip phone. 😉
I don’t own an Iphone and never will.
For my personal use, I only had a flip phone until about 1 year ago, when I was able to purchase an older android for $12.
I have a newer android (well relatively as it is an S5, soon to be S7) from
work. My wife has a Samsung J3, but I am relegated to the old Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro. 😀
I just don’t like the look and feel of Iphones and personally I think
Samsung manufactures a superior phone, S7 Note excepted. 😀 But hey,
people sweat by their I phones. To each their own. Whatever floats their boat.
Regarding charging. I don’t know the answer. I do both as well.
I really think it doesn’t matter.
One thing, Ideally, the phone should be removed from the charger
when charging is complete. Tough to do when charging it over night. 😀
My resident “techsperts” say “No i-phone. Ever.” I agree.
For me, an iphone keeps my OCD in check. I owned a Samsung phone for 1 month and I almost ended up in the nut house. Also, I’ve never had an app crash or freeze on my iphone. With the Samsung, my apps for crash on a daily basis.
iPhone….just got a new one but only upgrade every maybe every 4-5 years if needed….iPad…..iVicki.
I love the Apple technology and support. I detest the PC support and that ranges many manufacturers. I’d have an Apple computer if I were not afraid of compatibility issues.
I purchase the extended warranty with my phones and devices and have never used them. Makes me wonder why I purchase them. I purchase extended with PCs and use them constantly.
I am a huge fan of Samsung, however. I didn’t like my sister in laws phone or tablet as much as Apple but that is probably because I am used to Apple. I have all Samsung TVs and the only PC I ever had that didn’t have trouble was a Samsung…but they no longer make what I needed so went with an HP.
I miss my flip phone, which I gave up in April cuz too many messages would not come thru. I like the iPhone 5 I got on eBay with only G3 cuz the small screen and slow service causes me to not use the thing unless necessary :). Had no idea I had fellow flip phone lovers here. ❤️
It took an act of congress to get Mac to give up his flip phone. I think there are a lot of flip phone lovers out there.
Tomorrow from Taunton NWS office:
Friday…
Subtropical ridge begins to build northward up the east coast with
height rises into southern New England. This will suppress
convective chances by providing a cap over the area. However can/t
rule out a few storms across western MA/CT especially across the
higher terrain. Nevertheless much of the region remain dry Fri.
Last nigh Eric was in agreement with TK re: Shower and thunderstorm activity
for tomorrow. TK mentioned strong possible, while Eric went so far as to say
Strong to Severe.
That is some divergent forecasts.
TK, your thoughts
Reminder that I’m bouncing between accounts today/tomorrow.
I agree there will be a cap in place. However, I think it may be broken in a couple places, hence the forecast of lower coverage but possibly strong.
I’d trust you over the NWS any day of the week!
Thank you for your thoughts.
Those guys are pretty good…
I should know a lot more by later today.
Heading to the US Senior Open tomorrow in Salem, hoping for less of a chance on the North Shore…
Thanks TK
SPC has us in general thunderstorm risk tomorrow and Sat. Reading the discussion from Taunton a line from HFD to BOS and points east on Sunday have a shot at strong to severe storms.
Sunday’s timing may be a bit early to maximize.
Thank you, TK.
Thank you, TK!
Ever since I purchased my Apple iPhone 6 I now rarely used my laptop. In fact, the salesperson who sold it to me boldly predicted that laptops would be a thing of the past but two years later (today) it seems they are more popular than ever especially with the new Windows 10. I still prefer the Windows 7 as do my doctor and dentist.
I am very surprised at you TK of all people. I always picture you getting the very latest up to date technology. I had assumed you were camped out in front of the Apple Store ten years ago. I myself am always way behind it seems. Did I hear correctly an Apple iPhone 8? 😉
I now rarely “use”my laptop.
I use a laptop for work with a large screen. It serves several purposes…takes up little room, is portable if I need to attend a meeting, etc.
If I am not working, I do not turn on my laptop. However, I do not use my phone either. I use my iPad. Once I retire…if I ever feel the need to retire…I won’t have any need for more than an iPad and of course my phone.
Enough instability for some potent storms tomorrow as being shown by 12z NAM should the cap be broken. Mid level lapse rates are poor.
If I am not mistaken, I believe sales of laptops did drop significantly awhile back especially prior to Windows 10.
Almost two year ago when I got my lap top I paid less than $200.
iPhone hands down. Anything else I’ve used is total crap.
My dad has a Verizon tablet. Garbage!
Good news if your not a fan of thunderstorms bad news if you are a fan of thunderstorms like me. Tweet from meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan
Nice instability/shear combo Friday but we should remained capped – severe storms unlikely.
My concern is more for northern MA northward.
SPC now puts parts of SNE in a marginal risk. Slight risk just clips northern parts of Berkshire county. If the cap can be broken there is fuel for storms with latest runs of the 12z American models.
http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day2otlk.html
If by “just clips” Berkshire County you mean “includes the northern third of it”, then you’d be correct: http://www.spc.noaa.gov/public/fema/images/fema01_swody2.png
Posting this image from twitter from stormchaserjs from HRRR 3km. Could be some potent storms if the cap breaks.

HRRR more than a few hours out is generally useless. But they are from the “new school” of forecasting which is generally about half as accurate as the “old school”. 😉
I didn’t realize there was an HRRR 3km model till I saw the post.
I could be wrong, but I think the resolution of the HRRR is 3KM period.
The posted just added the 3KM.
It is not called the High Resolution Rapid Refresh for nothing. 😀
The High-Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR)
The HRRR is a NOAA real-time 3-km resolution, hourly updated, cloud-resolving, convection-allowing atmospheric model, initialized by 3km grids with 3km radar assimilation.
Catching up on things after a busy couple days. Was at Fenway last night, absolutely beautiful night for a game, unfortunately PorceLLo was on the hill. But it’s always fun to be in there.
Sue… I’m so sorry for your loss, thinking of you and yours.
Weather tomorrow… The heat is back, and it’s here to stay. As for the storms, they may be quite strong to our west and north. However, I think they mostly run out of gas before making it into central and especially eastern MA. It is very possible we see an MCS develop over New York and track just north of us.
Been on Nantucket, Temperatures been in the 60s and 70s, had one day of low 80s but other than that its been rather cool.
I am feeling optimistic about storm chances tomorrow. Will be out volunteering at a fundraiser, so you know a storm will blow through right when I’m outside.
Very good for you. What part of state?
New post!
