Saturday Forecast

11:29AM

DAYS 1-5 (AUGUST 5-9)
Cold front + humidity = showers and thunderstorms. That’s today, not a total wash-out, but currently a fairly significant batch of showers and embedded thunder moving through from west to east in central and eastern areas. This clears out and allows some sun which will fuel another batch of showers/storms with the cold front itself later. This area should be smaller overall, but may pack more of a punch where it does hit – favoring areas from central and eastern MA to southern NH at this time for late afternoon / early evening. Drier air arrives overnight and Sunday which will be a beautiful summer day. But the overall pattern discussed in previous entries continues and will send another disturbance this way later Monday and Tuesday with more unsettled weather before fair weather returns.
TODAY: Showers and embedded thunder central through eastern areas midday, then some breaking clouds with sun increasing. Then a chance of showers/thunderstorms again west to east later day and early evening. Any storms may be briefly strong. Humid. Highs 78-86, coolest South Coast. Wind SW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy to mostly clear. Lowering humidity later. Lows 62-68. Wind S 5-10 MPH shifting to W 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 76-84. Wind W 10-20 MPH.
MONDAY: Clouding over. PM rain. Lows in the 60s. Highs in the 70s.
TUESDAY: Early showers. Clearing west to east. Lows in the 60s. Highs in the 70s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows from the upper 50s to middle 60s. Highs from the middle 70s to lower 80s.

DAYS 6-10 (AUGUST 10-14)
Pattern will feature more humidity and a daily risk of showers/thunderstorms, but much more often rain-free.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 15-19)
Humid start, showers/storms following, a drier interlude, and humidity returns later in the period.

  1. Thanks TK! Was pouring here in Westford but looks like round one has cleared se Westford. Hopefully we can sneak in some nice hours for grilling with friends before round 2 hits!

  2. Heading off to Aruba for a week vacation beginning tomorrow. Going to go out on a limb and predict that it will be sunny, windy, hot, and 88 every day. Not much variation in the weather there. Looks like any tropical activity will stay to the north of the island, as it usually does. I’ll check in at some point while I am down there!

  3. Cool and cloudy Saturday, again. The summer of disappointment sure if we’ll see the sun today.

    1. Well auto correct sure messed that up.
Summer of disappointment continues. Not sure if we’ll see the sun here today or not. 73 out but feels cooler.

  4. Just had a downpour come through now the sun is out. A couple more showers to my southwest popping up.

        1. And strengthens it further, another 10mb or so prior to landfall well south of Brownsville, TX at hr 120.

  5. The line in central Vermont to western Mass looks interesting. Can see the SW flow aloft on the way the echoes look. Still S to occasionally SE surface winds.

  6. There is a real threat of a tornado somewhere in New England over the next couple hours. A look at the radar and the SPC Mesoanalysis makes that quite clear.

          1. a slight hint of some weak broad rotation on
the one NNW of Springfield. Zilch on the one
            NE of Springfield.

      1. they use to be a deep wood bird, but they have adapted due to more human environments. IE. towns and cities

  7. TK – At first glance, it appeared (at least to me) that Dickie was grabbing you by your left arm with his right hand and giving you a stern lecture. Obviously though, Dickie is just extending his hand as he is talking while you have your hand on your hip. Just an off-the-cuff observation. 😀

  8. F and D = Fine & Dandy 🙂

    BICO = Baby It’s Cold Outside 🙂

Dickie had a million of them lol. 😀

  9. Dick Albert was voted the 2nd most popular weathercaster in the nation by “Television/Radio Age” in 1987.

I would be curious as to who was #1 weathercaster…maybe Don Kent?

    1. In 1987, and if “weathercaster” did not necessarily mean “meteorologist on tv” but “person on tv that delivers the weather” then I’d bet #1 was Willard Scott.

I’d go with “Don Kent” if it was a regional or local ranking, not national.

  10. EURO op run has a system in the bay of Campeche medium range (couple runs in a row, I believe) and something off of the SE U.S. coastline in the long range.

As TK has been advising for a while now, the models seem to be trending towards the Bermuda High to be more in its usual place than its been all summer. Seems the ridge continues in the far western U.S. with a trof between the 2 ridges in the Great Lakes. Will be interesting to see how this upper air pattern evolves as August continues on, headed towards the peak of the hurricane season in the first third of September.

    1. GFS and CMC have the Bay of Campeche system as well, however, they both
vary on the one off of the SE coast. 😀

    2. Still looks this way but a weaker version of the classic, so this will still allow pieces of the mean trough in the Great Lakes to eject eastward.

    3. Oldest daughter and family go to Disney world aug 16 for a week. Perhaps, we can keep anything from that area. Please.

  11. For the music aficionados in our whw family. I was listening to a great segment on how much influence native Americans had on our music.

Rumble: How Indians Rocked Our World is playing in a few cities now but will be nationwide August 25.

I had no idea Jimi Hendrix was, in addition to being African American, Native American and also Scottish. Among others, he is a great example of how cultures melded through our history and our music grew because of it.

It may be many here have seen this and I am late to the party but I thought I’d share in case

  12. Greetings–haven’t been here since the winter, but being my go-to place for accurate weather info…heading to North Conway NH area for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday–any of of those days look especially wet–all of our daytime plans are outdoors. Thanks!

    1. Monday should be overcast and cooler than average with occasional mainly light rain. Tuesday will be a sun/cloud day, though clouds may dominate for a while and there may be a spot shower or even t-storm, but I would not cancel outdoor plans, just keep a close eye on things. Wednesday looks stellar with lots of sun and warmer.
