DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 2-6)
Transition from humid to dry today and this may include a few additional showers around as there will be a little wind convergence line in eastern MA down into RI and eastern CT through mid afternoon before drier air takes over enough to end the threat. But a largely dry day so don’t cancel any outdoor plans in these areas. A dry but cool day Sunday thanks to high pressure over eastern Canada. This weekend is big for outdoor weddings and graduations so overall, not turning out that badly for those events! However, fair weather won’t be around too long as low pressure to the south of New England makes a northeastward run and brings a wet and very cool episode of weather in Monday. It will continue unsettled and cool into midweek as upper level low pressure hangs around and another surface low possibly impacts the region. Forecast details…
TODAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms, favoring southern MA, CT, and RI until mid afternoon. Becoming less humid. Highs 68-73 Cape Cod, 74-81 elsewhere. Wind light S to SW shifting to N 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 50-55. Wind N to NE 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 58-65. Wind NE 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Clouding over. Lows 48-55. Wind NE to E 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY: Cloudy. Rain developing. Areas of fog forming. Temperatures steady 48-55. Wind NE 10-20 MPH, higher gusts near the coast.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Lows in the 50s. Highs in the 60s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Lows in the 50s. Highs in the 60s.
DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 7-11)
Drier weather most likely June 7, 9, and 11, while disturbances bring shower threats June 8 and 10, based on current timing. Temperatures average below normal for the period.
DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 12-16)
Cooler/dry weather to start the period followed by a warm-up but some showers may accompany the transition.
Thank you TK
Northerly winds all over, yet no REDUCTION in freaking Dew Point

Radar beam ducting.
Never heard that term before. You’ll have to explain that one. Sorry.
Superrefraction, or, the radar beam gets bent earthward and starts picking up widespread dust, pollen, bugs, low level moisture, the tops of trees, really tall people, etc. ๐
Thanks.
I found this for even more detail to expound upon
your excellent response.

Great explanation. Easy to follow. Thanks TK and OS
Thank you, TK. Not a bad weekend on tap at all.
For early June? Quite nice. It’s still spring, and we are getting spring weather. ๐
Exactly. And early Juneโs with low temps well Into the month are not as uncommon as we think
Thank you.
At 10:00 AM obs. Lawrence has a 32 dp. Something is not right.
Lawrence was one of 4 stations I have many times mentioned problems with temps and/or dew point. Just ignore the reading from there until such a time (if ever) that they fix the problem. Beverly and Marshfield are also messed up, as is Boston (who consistently runs 1 to 2 degrees too high on their temps).
Example: Boston reports 80 as of 10AM. I can pretty much promise you it’s really 78 or 79 there. But nobody is interested in fixing that issue apparently.
I say if you can’t trust Boston (Logan) whom can you trust? ๐
Thanks TK !
Breezy, occasionally gusty NE wind now.
Up to 80 with 71dp but, like you Tom, a gusty ENE wind
Of course as I type that I looked out the window and it was calm
I see ever so slight a trend to the dew point lowering and it appears to
be coming from the Northeast.
Dp here in JP has been as low as 66.
Currently temp 82m dp 67
Logan temp 79 dp 67.
63 dp in Provincetown and 57 in Yaremouth, NS.
Logan’s wind is straight out of the Northeast at 40 Degrees.
Logan DP just dropped to 66. It is slowly beginning. ๐ ๐ ๐
I think I see some small, but heavy showers popping. One on 128 just south of the Pike.
Moving ever so slightly west of due south.

Got dark to my east but lightening up here.
Actually darker clouds to my east and west. Iโm under a strip in the middle of blue sky but some towering clouds
Thanks, TK.
Dew Point down to 64 here. Beginning to feel the difference.
Decent NE wind. Temp still 80 here.
Very Dark just to our West/Sw.
I can SEE this cell.

Even AccuWeather.com radar is picking it up.
I could almost reach out and get wet from that one. It was that close.
This morning’s 3KM NAM for Monday rain: 2 inches across the area!!
https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/nam3km/2018060212/nam3km_apcpn_neus_20.png
There was some lightning in the cell that moved through Central Ct. ๐
In spite of the brisk NE wind, it doesn’t feel even remotely cool yet.
Give it some time. Trust me, it WILL cool off.
I think that was a pre-frontal trof that switched the wind to NE. But behind that trof, the airmass didn’t change much.
The real cold front with much lower humidity is to our north, perhaps where a new shower area is developing in east central NH and western ME.
Once that comes through in a couple hrs, the dewpoints will fall very quickly.
It was a sea breeze front.
Thanks TK !
WOW!
Boston Buoy Water Temp: 60.6
Stellwagen Buoy: 59.7
Really not too shabby for this time of year.
Still, should allow temperatures to fall to upper 60s to around 70.
We shall see.
With now sun, could drop temps to lower 60s.
I’ve had a chance to get into the ocean a bit this past week.
While still very chilly, you can be in it for a while and it doesn’t hurt your feet or ankles.
Indeed. Awesome.
At noon, 65+ dewpoints still reach up to Concord, NH, Portsmouth, NH, etc.
The sub 60F dewpoints are from Burlington, VT southeastward to Bangor, ME.
Heading in Sues direction. Nice

I have not checked but was just sitting out after my trip to the farmers market and you could feel the air changing.
So I checked and DP went from 75 to 72 but just doesnโt feel 72
Down to 75 with dp 63 at the airport.
Down to 75 here after a brief rain shower. Another on our doorsteps.
Down to 71 at Logan with dp 63
Brief shower where I am. Yesterday with the humidity felt like Florida. Today I didn’t find it as bad.
I’m right in the bowling alley the last couple hours. 3rd shower, with #2 and #3 being quite heavy.
Ever weathered a 300 ?? ๐ ๐
ROTFLMAO!!! ๐ ๐ ๐
Good one Tom
HAHAHA!
Temp 68, dew 63 at Logan
76 here with dp 63
Im sure this is not as uncommon as I think but I donโt recall seeing it before

Beach Hazard Statement
10:09 AM EDT, 6/02,expires 8:00 PM EDT, 6/02
… Beach hazards statement remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening…
* location… coastal western Maine and New Hampshire.
* Beach hazard… the warm air temperatures in the upper 70s may cause people to underestimate the dangers of the cold water temperatures which are currently only in the low 50s.
* Timing… Saturday.
* Winds… north winds 10 to 15 mph.
* Impacts… the cold water temperatures can quickly cause hypothermia to anyone immersed in the water. Anyone on boats or paddlecraft should use extreme caution to avoid this threat.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
A beach hazards statement is issued on days when a significant number of boats and paddlecraft are expected to be out on the water and when warm air temperatures may cause people to underestimate the danger of the cold water. Paddle smart from the start. Always wear your life jacket. Be aware of wind conditions, tides, and localized currents.

So it is still 80 with a 70DP. Neighboring stations say the same. No idea why it felt as if it were drying out earlier. Must have been hallucinating. And I canโt figure out if Iโm hot or cold. I am wearing shorts with a long sleeve tee. I think my thermostat needs calibrating.
73 here but dp still a disgusting 66!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great breeze here but temp and DP not budging.
This surface map says front is through. HA!
http://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/sfc/90fwbg.gif
Ha is right. Although breeze feels drier.
Sub 60 degree dew point line. Making very slow progress to the South.

On another note, pollen is through the roof. I have piles of yellow on deck and I swept it….not my best idea…..around noon. My car changes from dark grey to blue to black normally depending on its mood….registry and dealer couldnโt figure what to call it. I suggested they call it a female. Today, it is yellow.
Dp finally down to 62. Oh, what a SLOOOOOOOOOOW processs!!!
73 with 65 DP at 8:11
Wow. What a night.
temp 60 dp 50
Slow process. Dp really started to drop around or about 8PM here.
Good Sunday morning. Lovely start to the day. 56 with 50 DP. Gusty SE wind
Enjoy the morning with your mom, TK. Please say hi. Sue, suspect itโs a bit nippy in Maine. I always liked cool mornings in the mountains. Have a perfect day, Sue, and everyone
New post!
