Monday Forecast

7:14AM

DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 4-8)
Low pressure tracks southeast of New England today with most of its rain occurring this morning and early afternoon, though don’t expect any quick clearing as a northeast wind will keep low level moisture locked in with additional drizzle while upper energy still triggers a few showers through evening. Upper level low pressure still has to cross the region Tuesday and Wednesday with more unsettled weather. Improvement arrives Thursday as weak high pressure moves in, but a cold front coming along Friday may trigger a quick shower or thunderstorm. Forecast details…
TODAY: Overcast. Periods of rain, possibly heavy at times, through midday. Drizzle and a chance of showers thereafter. Areas of fog. Highs 50-57. Wind E to NE 5-15 MPH interior, 10-20 MPH coast, but higher gusts all areas.
TONIGHT: Overcast evening with areas of drizzle. Mostly cloudy overnight. Areas of fog. Lows 47-54. Wind NE to N 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy morning. Cloudy with showers likely afternoon. Highs 58-66. Wind NW to W 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Cloudy with periods of rain. Areas of fog. Lows 50-57. Wind variable to E 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Cloudy with areas of fog and drizzle with a chance of rain in the morning. Mostly cloudy afternoon. Highs 58-65. Wind NE to N 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny. Lows in the 50s. Highs from the middle to upper 60s South Coast, upper 60s to middle 70s elsewhere.
FRIDAY: Partly cloudy. A passing shower or thunderstorm possible. Lows from the upper 50s to lower 60s. Highs in the 70s.

DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 9-13)
Next disturbance brings a shower threat at some point during the June 9-10 weekend followed by drier weather. Temperatures near to below normal.

DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 14-18)
This period looks somewhat warmer but still will bring one or two shower threats in transition.

  1. Thank you, TK. We had a great weekend. I’m also enjoying the feel of today. There is something calming about a soft but constant rain.

  2. Good morning and thank you TK.
Miserable Monday, truly miserable. At least it isn’t a weekend day. 😀

Walking in from the parking lot, it felt like a late March morning to me.

How about some June weather???? Oh, wait it is June, thus we are experiencing
    June weather. How about that.

      1. Did not see yesterday or last night. Was busy from about 2PM
onward. Never looked at the computer after that.

Did just now check it out. Awesome photo. The look
of anticipation is priceless. Given that, I started at that
photo trying to figure out where it was??? Tis a mystery to me.

IF it was somewhere near you, then my guess would be
the Blackstone River somewhere in the neighborhoold
        of Purgatory Chasm.

If it was not near you, then it could be almost anywhere in New England, so I really wouldn’t know.

Curious to know where that was. Thanks

        1. Thank you!!!

I think it is in the Cumberland RI area, OS, but I am not positive either. And you are so right about the look of anticipation. I loved his hand at the ready with the reel also….not bad for four years old. My son has always loved the outdoors so will pass that along to his son.

          1. Ok, makes sense. Then it would be the
Blackstone River, just down stream of where
            I mentioned above.

            Have you ever dined here?

            https://www.riverfallsri.com/

Right on the Blackstone River, with a beautiful
            view of the water fall.

            Btw,

When I was in High School, the Blackstone River
was a Polluted piece of garbage with virtually
NO LIFE in the river. It was a disgusting white/green swill. Over the years, that river
was cleaned up like you wouldn’t believe and
it is now TEEMING with wildlife!!!!! Fish galore!!! I have actually fished in that River
            as recently as 2011.

            1. BTW, ditto with the Nashua River.
It was polluted so badly, it was White in color. Damn paper mills. DISGUSTING!!!
Only life was some sort of mud slug or some such thing.

Now it is an absolutely beautiful river
also teeming with fish and wildlife.

Shows what can be done when we put a stop to the money grubbing don’t give a crap business/mill owners.

              1. And the one we all know – the Charles. It is amazing what we can undo. I have not eaten there but will mention to my son but will be surprised if he has not. I was thinking of a new place for my birthday dinner and this would be perfect – right in between all of our homes. Thank you.

                1. Although, to be truthful,
the Charles was never ever as bad as those other 2 mentioned above. However, clearly it is in better shape now than years ago.

  3. Thank you, TK.

Love the cool and the wet. Let’s keep the water table up 🙂

    7th by my count

    1. You have excellent timing for that number 7 spot!!! Agree re water table. I am absolutely shocked at how quickly the lawns turned tan here. Granted sandy soil and no shade made a huge difference but even my neighbors who have no less than perfect lawns are tan. Makes me feel somewhat better although our own is really getting to be nice also….or was 🙂

        1. Love that song. And how did he get to be 70? I just do not understand how all of these people get older and my age remains around 39 🙂

Do you ever play Blackstone Valley. It looks like a really nice course.

            1. It just got some really good national reviews. I want to take some time next year and organize a golf tournament for cancer in Macs memory.

                1. You are wonderfully kind. Thank you I was just talking to daughter. We are going to see if we can get something together this fall.

  4. Thanks TK. Miserable morning, but we’re certainly not going to get the widespread 1″+ rain that many were looking for. No one will notice given the time of year, but if this were January and a snow event, the writing would be on the wall for a bust.

  5. At airport, picking up my son. fairly foggy hete, not enough to interrupt flights, but noticeable.

  6. 45 years ago tonight, as a 12-year old lad, I took this photo (with my Kodak Instamatic camera!) of a funnel cloud in the backyard of my uncle and aunt’s home outside of Columbus, Ohio.

    1. Oh my goodness …terrifying for an adult let alone a 12 year old. Thank you for sharing

  7. 2 “ouches on the ears” today.

    1) From local news radio station, the news anchor says: “Wow, today feels more like spring than the middle of summer!” … Well, that might be because it IS spring. By the way, even though summer technically starts in late June, MID summer definitely does NOT start any time in June, or even early July.

    2) From local TV news, meteorologist just said (about today): “No humidity to speak of.” … Meanwhile, the air is nearly completely saturated. That’s pretty humid to me, and not only just my opinion, given the RH is 97% at Boston as of 6PM, which was shortly after this statement was made, yeah…..there is humidity to speak of. 🙂

        1. Pictures didn’t really show the difference and by the time I got my phone the clouds started to fill in on north side. But was fun to watch

  8. It’s been okay. It was good to have the weather cooperate and be able to get out there last Saturday. A couple times I wanted to go in May the weather wasn’t great.

  9. I see that Boston (Logan) has tied the record low max high at 52F!

Christmas in July…November in June 😉

    1. Records were made to be tied or broken. We’ve been observing for a relatively short period of time. There is a great deal of variability in the weather at mid latitudes. We are in mid latitudes here. 🙂
