Tuesday Forecast

7:17AM

DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 5-9)
Low pressure will track southeastward across New England today, accompanied by a pool of cold air aloft, and this will trigger showers and possible thunderstorms that may contain small hail. The storms themselves, if they occur, won’t be particularly strong. The hail may occur even with just showers as it is very cold above. Improvement follows midweek, though it may be slow to start on Wednesday. Nicer weather overall late week but the active pattern still brings the chance of a passing shower or thunderstorm Friday with a cold front, and then an approaching warm front and low pressure system may threaten the region with rain as early as Saturday night. Forecast details…
TODAY: Mostly cloudy. Scattered afternoon showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Any showers or storms may produce small hail. Highs 58-66. Wind W to SW 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Areas of fog. Lows 50-57. Wind variable to N 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Cloudy with areas of fog and drizzle early, then becoming partly sunny. Highs 58-65. Wind N to NE 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 52-59. Wind light N shifting to W.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 64-70 South Coast, 70-76 elsewhere. Wind W to SW 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Partly cloudy. A passing shower or thunderstorm possible. Lows from the upper 50s to lower 60s. Highs in the 70s.
SATURDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of rain at night. Lows from the upper 50s to middle 60s. Highs from the middle 70s to lower 80s.

DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 10-14)
Risk of a few periods of rain June 10 depending on the speed and track of a disturbance moving through the region. Overall trend is to drier weather after that. Temperatures below normal with a late period warm-up.

DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 15-19)
A more seasonably warm period overall, but one or two shower and thunderstorm threats may occur with passing disturbances in a general west-to-east flow.

  1. Thanks, TK.

I’m off to Seattle. It’ll be nice to get away for a week, and also good to return to my comfort zone (home) next week.

I’ll let you all know what the weather is like in the Pacific Northwest.

    1. Not much happening weatherwise….but maybe that is about to change.

We are at 64. Clouds rolled in. I’m not sure if clouds cooled us down or a bit of a breeze made it feel cooler. I didn’t check temp this am but did have windows open and had to close them down some.

  2. Really the only thing to keep an eye on this week is that potential MCS Eric tweeted about yesterday for Sat night.

  3. Starting to look a bit more colorful on radar. West of Worcester and a bit west of here.

  4. Terrible, tragic volcanic eruption Sunday noon in Guatemala.
VolcΓ‘n de Fuego, west of Guatemala City, erupted without warning trapping many in their homes. At least 62 are dead and many more are missing.
Apparently this volcanic activity is different than the Hawaiian volcano. According to what I have read, this volcano has a “pyroclastic flow” and its deadly danger is the toxic ash rather than the molten lava.
Many of the Guatemalan victims were buried alive in ash and/or suffocated because of it.
Here’s a video taken from one of the nearby villages on Sunday:

    1. Can’t imagine looking at that from a close distance. That might be one time I’d drive 100 mph in the opposite direction.

  5. Got very dark here in Sudbury – sky has been looking weird and pretty for awhile. Now it is finally pouring out. REALLY pouring now!

  6. For skiers its a gloomy day not because of the rain but because vail resorts buying Triple Peaks, LLC. Its extremely unfortunate, this includes Okemo and MT sunnapee. If we have learned anything with Stowe is that the day passes are going to be jacked up, the agreements these mountains have with the regional ski pass will be gone that will leave just 7 mountains on it. The bust trips will not be given to these ski areas. Its a sad day for new england skiers.

    1. The tail of the line? Just passed through here but no more than a gentle rain. But the interesting part was just south of me if that is what you Are referring to. It is dark to my south but once again…like yesterday….sun is out both over me and to my north

  7. On a no weather note….MassBay, thank you for lighting a fire under me. I am working with Jimmy Fund/Dana (to start) in order to start planning a charity tournament in Macs name. Today is a great day to start. It was four years ago he has the 10 plus hour surgery to repair radiation damage to his spine. So it’s a hard day but you gave me a purpose Thank you.

      1. That touched my heart. It wont be until fall 2019. The woman said to give ourselves at least six months and that would be into December.
