Saturday Forecast

9:17AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 7-11)
Simply beautiful weekend as high pressure dominates, then as it sinks to the south a little summer heat, without humidity arrives Monday. Tuesday-Wednesday we will see warmth and an increase in humidity but have to start watching a tropical system off the East Coast. Though computer guidance currently takes this system offshore, there are some subtle things these models can miss that leave open the door for that system to come closer or even over the region as early as later Tuesday, so the wording for Tuesday and Wednesday in the forecast below will be vague and a little lower confidence than usual for this time period.
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 75-82. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 55-62. Wind light N.
SUNDAY: Sunny. Highs 77-85. Wind light variable.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 57-64. Wind light SW.
MONDAY: Sunny. Highs 78-85 South Coast, 85-92 elsewhere. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY: Increasing clouds. Chance of showers or rain at night. Lows in the 60s. Highs in the 80s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain or showers early, then partly cloudy. Lows in the 60s. Highs from the upper 70s to middle 80s.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 12-16)
Shower threat early in the period from nearby tropical moisture. Jet stream systems bring shower and thunderstorm threats around July 13 and 16. Temperatures near to above normal.

DAYS 11-15 (JULY 17-21)
A west to east flow will carry a couple disturbances producing shower and thunderstorm threats in passing, but the overall pattern is on the drier side with near to above normal temperatures.

  1. Thanks TK !

    Happy 7/7 Vicki.

Interesting re: your thoughts on tropical system off Carolina coast.

Became beautifully cool overnight and is a splendid morning.

    1. Sanford ME reported 43F with a 42F dewpoint.

That must have been a valley location, I’d say we were 50F …. it was wonderful !

  2. Good morning and thank you TK.

May I please just say one thing? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

FINALLY, some relief. By Midnight the house was completely cooled off. In fact it
was getting cold and we actually had to close the windows! I just re-opened them all.

    70 dp 49 YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Thank you, TK

Love that you have south coast temps included. I’m still chatting with Chris. Being a younger brother, he didn’t always listen to me so I fully understand why there is uncertainty about later this week πŸ˜‰

  4. Vicki, from previous blog:

JPD and Hadi, I just heard something about a porch day in JP. Do you both participate? What is it?

Well, for one I can say I did not participate.

Not sure about all of the festivities yesterday, but in the past what
it has been is local bands would set up on a porch (theirs or neighbors) and
perform for the immediate neighborhood. It’s actually pretty cool.
I have seen several of the bands in the past. Are there other activities?
Not sure, I only know about the bands. We certainly did hear music in
    the air yesterday.

      1. Wow. What a fascinating event. I snot believe how many participate. I’m happy they have a perfect weather day

    1. He’s going by the Euro Monthlies. I’m not sold on this, at least for a good part of the month.

  5. We have now lost 8 minutes on the sunrises vs. only 2 minutes on the sunsets. The rotation of this earth is neither fair nor equal. Us early risers always get the short stick all year long in one way or the other.

    1. I wouldn’t call it fair or unfair. I just call it… rotation. What it does is fascinating. πŸ™‚

  6. Starting to see more evidence of the ridge / trough / ridge pattern trying to set up after mid month. Eventually this leads to a Bermuda High pattern and a whole lot of high humidity.

    1. well, please see what you can do to keep it the hell out of here! Thanks

After this past week, I don’t want to see a dp above 60 EVER again.
If we didn’t have 3 rooms with ACs in them, my wife would not have made it for sure. As it was she was deathly sick and only now beginning to recover.

      I HATE HHH weather.

Here’s hoping you are incorrect, as rare as that might be. πŸ˜€

  7. Just out doing some yard work. As dry as it is, I was sweating up a storm.
That’s why I don’t do anything strenuous in the HHH weather.

Btw, it is Phantasmagorical out there today!!!

    1. I am surprised that your 200 year old house cooled down so quickly as my 95 year old house (1923) is mearly “less hot”. πŸ˜‰

      1. yeah, me too. We’re on the 2nd floor as my son rents the downstairs unit. So because it became so dry and so cool with a decent wind blowing, we were able to maximize the cooling effect and get the whole house cooled down. We had cross breezes all over. It was like a hurricane in the big hall way. We were very pleased. It got so cool that by 12:30 AM, I had to close all
of the windows and did not re-open them till about 9:30 this morning.

Technically my house is 172 years old as it was built in 1846.
You should see the timber in the basement. 12×12 beams. None of this crap doubled up 2x4s or worse.

        1. Maybe my house will get the chill tonight as I believe most temps regionwide will be in the 50s. I think Logan was still above 60 overnight. πŸ™‚

    1. I referred to it as back-to-back top 10 days. πŸ™‚

Even as a heat/humidity lover I will fully admit how nice it is walking around outside today. πŸ™‚

    1. Enjoy this great weather. Nice to get out save a few bucks on the electric bill for a few days. I love cold and snow in the winter but if there is a mild day I don’t mind.

    2. You’ll probably be rather happy with end July and at least the first half of August.

        1. Even in July it’s hard to get a complete week with nothing at all, but I like the pattern heading through that time frame for a lot of good vacation weather.

    3. BlackstoneWx, It wouldn’t be summer for me without some HHH days – but for me more than 3 or 4 days in a row is a bit much. I hope you enjoyed the last few days and I won’t mind more HHH days – if they are scattered here and there. I’m not ready for fall yet – looking forward to some HHH in the next few wks. as we plan some time at the beach before the summer is over.

  8. Blackstone, I envy your constitution. I wish I could handle HHH. I really can’t. On the flip side, I enjoy sub-zero windchill. I like being outside in it. Most people do not. My mother and I share a similar Inuit constitution. It’s weird.

Conditions change dramatically in the White Mountains, as we all know. Two sets of hikers were not prepared. See link below. Why did the Minneapolis duo attempt to climb Huntington’s Ravine? That’s as hard or harder to climb than any hike I’ve ever done – in the Alps in Switzerland and France, Sierra in California, and Cascades in Washington State.

  9. Beautiful evening. We just got back from DQ.

JP Dave, I got a caramel sundae with marshmallow. Delicious! Thank you for recommending it. Hope your wife is feeling better now with this nice weather.

    1. Drove by a DQ yesterday and wanted one so badly! But I was chasing a storm at the time. πŸ˜‰

      1. I’m guessing chasing the storm made you forget the DQ after awhile? I never chased a storm before – must be really neat. Hope you get your DQ soon! πŸ™‚

  10. Joshua, you beat me to the punch with your post about the hikers being rescued from Mount Washington last night. The low temperature this morning was 33 Degrees with winds gusting over 60 mph! That would have put wind chills down in the single digits and teens. I’m sure there were many hiking up there yesterday in shorts and t-shirts, completely unprepared for the temperature drop and full fledged winter conditions (the high earlier in the day on the summit was 60)

  11. TK, sorry – I am all over the place today. Meant to put my reply under your post. I am having surgery nxt. wk. and being a nervous person it makes me more nervous. Have a good evening.

Tropical Depression #3 will likely become weak Hurricane Chris and pass 200-300 miles off shore. No impact expected in New England but the surf could get rough by Tuesday. #wcvb

    2. Odds favor OTS but not by much. I still have a feeling the center of that thing ends up much closer to Cape Cod than models have at the moment.

  12. Kansas City Royals are woeful.

David Price stinks like rotten vegetables. I look for him to go on the DL with β€œsoreness” in the next day or two.
