Friday Forecast

7:09AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 13-17)
High pressure keeps control today then gives it up this weekend as a disturbance sends a warm front toward the region Saturday, passing through from west to east at night, then a cold front which drops north to south across the region Sunday. Though no widespread or long-lasting rain is expected, it may be unsettled for part of the weekend with a few showers and thunderstorms any time from late Saturday through Sunday. The cold front that comes through Sunday will not really be followed by much in the way of refreshing air from Canada, as the overall pattern will feature a southwest flow into early next week with warm/humid weather Monday and a shower/thunderstorm threat from another approaching front on Tuesday. Forecast details…
TODAY: Partly cloudy. Highs 73-78 coast, 78-83 interior. Wind SE up to 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 60-67. Wind light SE.
SATURDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 73-78 coast, 78-83 interior. Wind SE 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Lows 61-68. Wind SE 5-15 MPH shifting to SW.
SUNDAY: Variably cloudy. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs 75-80 coast, 80-85 interior. Wind SW to W 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows in the 60s. Highs in the 80s except some 70s South Coast.
TUESDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of showers/thunderstorms, especially afternoon and night. Lows in the 60s. Highs in the 80s except some 70s South Coast.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 18-22)
Shower threat lingers into July 18 before drying out through July 19. Humidity and shower/thunderstorm threat increases later July 20 through the July 21-22 weekend.

DAYS 11-15 (JULY 23-27)
Large scale pattern will feature high pressure ridge western US, low pressure trough upper Midwest to Great Lakes, and high pressure over the western Atlantic. This pattern, though not too wet, is not absent of shower and thunderstorm opportunities from time to time, along with fairly dominant warmth and humidity.

    1. Interesting. Marginal this far out. Hmmm

We’re supposed to be going to a pool party on Sunday.

My wife fears she won’t be able to make it due to Heat and Humidity.
Well, with the clouds and possible showers, it may not be the heat, but
the rain. The party is clearly planned for outdoors.

      We shall see.

  1. Ryan Hanrahan was saying last night on air that a little bit of wind shear on Sunday could make some of the storms strong.

    1. AGAIN, N&W NOTHING on the coast, at least according to the GFS.
EURO has a bit more, but still more N&W.

      Something to watch for sure.

  2. I will be in Virginia next week. Looking at the temps lows 90s which is a lot better than last year when a couple days were in the low 100s and heat index values over 110. I tell everyone that was the most intense heat I ever experienced in my life. With that said I had a great time last year.

    1. A couple of weekends that I was visiting Virginia years ago I lucked out and enjoyed very nice conditions by Virginia standards with only moderate amounts of humidity with the heat quite tolerable. I hope the humidity will be somewhat in check for you at least, Jimmy. šŸ™‚

  3. 12z NAM severe parameters for interior SNE supportive of a locally strong or severe storm Sunday afternoon. Will see what the rest of the 12z runs show but if they show what the 12z NAM was showing if I am the SPC I am taking the areas at or near the coast out of the marginal risk.

    1. RE; 12Z NAM, Disagree. From Pivotal weather, the soundings show severe right to the coast. There is even a slight tornado risk according to Pivotal Weather.

      1. I was looking at the Cod.edu site fast when I made my comment. Slight tornado risk for parts of interior MA on the cod site.
        Now waiting on 12z GFS

  4. DP now up to 60 at Logan. Those 50 dewpoints may now be few and far between for awhile. Maybe through the rest of the month. šŸ™

  5. Good morning. Anyone out there in WHW land? Iā€™m not sure I recall seeing the blog this quiet. I suspect the spectacular weather has everyone outside enjoying

  6. Good morning. I’m around for now. šŸ˜€
It is a nice morning. NOT impressed with instability parameters for
tomorrow and Tuesday. We shall see.

  7. Good morning.

Cloudy here. Current radar makes me think southwest Maine may get wet later on.

  8. I was at a concert in Gilford NH last night so it was a long drive up (with traffic about 2 hours and 45 min), and home just about 1 hour & 45 minutes including a quick rest stop, at which time the most perfectly timed episode of a-fib woke me up wide awake and taking my medication immediately fixed it by the time I got back. HAHAHA!

So anyway, after a little extra rest, I am now about to update and it doesn’t look like I’m making many changes to the previous blog post.

  9. Rest?! I did that, after I got home. Today, it’s yard work, then a bday party in Milford, then a trip up to Salisbury Beach tonight. šŸ™‚

Oh yeah, new post! (very similar to the previous)
