DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 27-31)
Many changes in the final 5 days of October, starting with an East Coast storm of wind and rain today, a milder break between systems Sunday, another wet weather system not nearly as strong on Monday, then drying out and turning milder as we go through the final 2 days of the month, although by Halloween itself an old frontal boundary in the area may bright the slightest threat of a rain shower. Forecast details…
TODAY: Overcast with rain, heavy at times through mid afternoon, diminishing to lighter rain/drizzle late day. Highs 41-48. Wind NE 15-25 MPH, higher gusts above 30 MPH interior and above 45 MPH coastal areas. Coastal flooding probable especially around early afternoon high tide.
TONIGHT: Cloudy with drizzle, areas of fog, and periods of rain. Temperatures steady in the 40s. Wind SE 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Chance of drizzle and a slight chance of a rain shower early. Highs 56-63. Wind S to SW 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY: Cloudy. Periods of rain. Lows from the middle to upper 40s. Highs from the lower to middle 50s.
TUESDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows in the 30s. Highs from lower to middle 50s.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Slight risk of a rain shower. Lows in the 40s. Highs from the upper 50s to lower 60s.
DAYS 6-10 (NOVEMBER 1-5)
Mild November 1 with a rain shower risk late and some wet weather on November 2 leading to a cooler/dry November 3 as a bubble of high pressure moves in, but then another quick wet weather threat November 4 before dry air returns November 5.
DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 6-10)
Fair, milder start to the period, briefly wet, then dry and cooler.
Thanks TK.
Thank you, TK
Soooo who stayed up for the end? I crashed at 12:30ish. Iโm suspecting TK May have. Anyone else?
Iโm just saw Longshot was up until after 3
I dozed a few times but I was up for the end. ๐
I did!
Good morning and Thank you TK. And a big Yawn. Had to give up on the game
at inning 15. Just couldn’t stay up any longer. What a game!
Sox had their chances and “should” have won it. Oh well, there is tonight.
And the million dollar question is: Who will start??
If it were up to me, I would start Rodriguez, but it isn’t is it.
My guess is that Cora will March Sale out there.
We shall see.
Hope the Sox can HIT tonight as they were PATHETIC last night.
The # 1-4 batters went 0 for 28. Think about that.
Someone posted WWLWW the other day. I cannot recall who
I don’t really agree with “should have” won. I would say “could have” but didn’t. It’s all incidental. That’s why they play the games. ๐ I think they rebound and grab these next 2 and it’s over Sunday night.
I disagree. Certainly they “could” have won, but I still say
they should have won. But all is not lost.
Thank you TK
No city has ever hosted more than 3 major sporting events in a single day. On Sunday, LA will break that record by 2 when they host 5. Home games are had by the LA Dodgers (baseball), Clippers (basketball), Kings (hockey), Rams (football), and Galaxy (soccer). All 5 major sports.
If you want to call soccer major. ๐ I guess I am showing my age.
It is technically a major sport, even though most people in this country don’t understand it. ๐
Oh yeah, I understand that. The younger generations
are much more into it. I just never could warm up to it.
Mostly because it was foreign to me.
Thanks TK
What a game that was that ended at 3:30 this morning. I fell asleep after Muncy just missed hitting a walk off home run in the 15th inning. I woke up just after 330 and the news was one and said Dodgers won in a walk off in the 18th inning. The game last night of 7 hours 20 minutes was longer than the entire 1939 World Series.
0.30 inch so far here. Not raining all that hard. In fact right now it is not raining, just some drizzle.
Not so windy here either.
Frankly, I am NOT impressed in the slightest.
Ok, Strongest winds expected to start ramping up right around now.
Our friends at the NWS are still at it:
Convection…
Models are still struggling with how far N a late day warm front
is able to lift. Farthest W is the ARW, pushing it all the way
to the I-95 corridor. The overall mean is slightly W of the CC
Canal, and latest update will reflect this. Given the timing
coincides with the mid lvl dry slot, yielding very steep mid lvl
lapse rates, this will need to be watched, as MU CAPE values
still progged to exceed 500j/kg within the warm sector. Lower
lvl helicity values still very high at this time as well. Will
continue to highlight a low risk for a waterspout/tornado or
enhanced TS late afternoon/evening.
Vicki…it is I who posted the WWLWW which was the Red Sox winning the 1916 series against the Dodgers (Brooklyn). ๐
We were close. I went WWWLW.
Ahhh yes. I remember now. Will be interesting to see
After a lull, raining decently here again.
Up to 0.45 inch. Still not all that windy, though.
System has occluded…

0.64 with highest gust of 17
Been breezy around my area, with drizzle and off and on rain. Not much in the way of actual rainfall though
The rain and wind have ramped up down here in Marshfield. Gotten darker too.
1.64 ft surge in Boston Harbor currently.
If that maintains to 1:40, tide will max at 12.7 ft. I’ll guess with the continued ramp-up, it ends up being 13 to 13.1 ft. Minor to borderline moderate flooding probably.
12.14 feet as of 1:17 PM

Up to 0.72 inch here. Still not impressed with the wind. It’s windy, but nothing
too much at all. Gusting to 39 at the airport, perhaps up to 30 here is all.
There…A pretty decent wind gust.
Looks like the highest winds now to about 6PM.
Wind is definitely ramping up here.
Boston tide level 12.34 feet as of 1:24

12.41 ft. as of 1:30

Actually, not bad at all considering…
0.85 with highest gust of 21 a short time ago
Oldest and family headed to Humarock to see ocean
0.83 here.
Wow. You are going up faster than I.
Snowing decently up North. Here is the WildCat Mt. Web Cam. Seems to have
a bandwidth issue, but you can see what is going on. Many skiers at the mountain.

3โ in bartlett.
The Conway area just dealt with a blackout for over a hour. Souroundinf towns were effected. Over 100k were out.
Looks like 12.55 feet tops it off. A surge of 1.45 feet. I think we can handle that ok.

Good news !
Kids just did face time from Humarock. You have an active ocean down there Tom
I’m sure. I haven’t had a chance to go in that direction today as I’ve been driving towards Hanover and Pembroke ๐
Thanks TK.
I wonder if the 7-year old prodigy will sing the national anthem at Dodger Stadium this evening:

Her performance before an LA Galaxy game was tremendous. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (one of the world’s best players over the last decade and a half) really liked it.
I’m not feeling it as far as the Sox are concerned. The Dodgers have a formidable line-up (and a stacked bench compared to the Red Sox) and are due to break out of their doldrums, especially against a tired Sox pitching staff. What the Red Sox need is an anomalous Southern California 2-day rainstorm. Ain’t going to happen. Yesterday’s loss caused me serious lack of sleep. I might have slept 2 hours after the loss. But, as you all know I’m a skeptic when it comes to the Red Sox. Love them, but can’t say I have faith in them, ever. Thankfully, I’ve been proven wrong several times since 2004.
One thing I so hoped for back in early October was that the Red Sox would include Brandon Phillips on the playoff roster instead of Ian Kinsler. I really think Kinsler is nearing the end of a good career. His swings are so bad, so late, and often half-hearted. His base-running clownish. And even his fielding leaves a lot to be desired, and not just last night. We’ve also learned that Mookie Betts is no David Ortiz or Manny Ramirez or Mike Lowell or Shane Victorino or Mike Napoli. Betts is very hesitant at the plate, and that’s characteristic of someone who’s nervous on the big stage. His post-season experience is no longer a small sample size. In 2016 he was bad, last year terrible, and this year mediocre.
Joshua no disrespect but you havenโt been feeling it with the Sox in each series why is that I am curious . You do not think this team is good , they are way better than LA. Look for huge effort tonight from Sox. Lastly it took 18 innings last night for LA to grab a win .
I could not disagree with you more about the Red Sox.
The Dodgers should be worried.
what a drive to The Seaport Hotel from my house in JP. Wind driven rain and complete morons on the road. Made it here. No flooding.
Have fun . Iโm in town as well heading to the garden.
hours after high tide and water is almost to road level. the wind is howling.
Daughter said ocean had come up into the parking lot in Scituate and the road around the lighthouse….not sure name of that but suspect others here do. They didnโt see more than a bit of splashover on Humarock. Daughter tried to get out at the lighthouse and had trouble walking in the wind. Granted she is 100lbs but strong enough to handle large horses so had to be pretty strong.
Iโm hearing no elecreicity at daughters home in Uxbridge. They got a call from neighbor. Iโm going there for dinner ๐
the top 2/3 of an oak tree feel into my neibors yard. They were lucky it only grazed their porch.
Wow. Glad to hear no one was hurt
Heck of a wedding. sneaking peeks at game.
0-0 after 5 fill. impressive
YEAH SOX!!! What a Win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least when I got up at my usual 3:00 AM, there was an actual โfinalโ score. ๐
New post!
