Watching for the return of unsettled weather that may feature rain and/or snow sometime in the November 12-13 period but this is a low confidence forecast this far in advance. Don’t take the word “snow” to automatically mean “snowstorm”.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 14-18)
Starts unsettled, drier weather then dominates. Temperatures near to below normal.

    1. Awww Coastal. That is just awesome. The pictures are amazing I think that is my fault. It is on 16B. Or so I think. It’s been over 50 years. As I recall, it is on your right just above Jackson. The wentworth …again as I remember….was on our left as we went up the road. It is not far above the village. The mountain is probably just a mountain now. I see a couple of roads off of 16B that dead end. The road leading to it was lined with chalets. It could be Tin Mountain Rd

I can’t thank you enough. I have smiles and happy tears at once.

      1. I just did some reading. It is on one side of Thorn Mountain and on the same rd as Black Mtn. I was wrong about it being on wildcat road. It seems Tin Mountain Rd leads to Thorn Mountain rd. There is a large chalet…Le Chalet De Fontini (Sp?) at the end. I wonder if it is where the base house was.

        Again…..you made my day.

      2. The kids loved the adventure of looking for it.

Yes, Tin Mountain Road is what we took to the top but could not find anything resembling a ski area. Too many homes there now.

        1. I think that is it then. Awesome. You found it …one of New Hampshire’s lost ski areas. I love that it was an adventure for your kids. I was just telling my youngest. It means a ton…especially this time of year with my memories of my brother and of course my dad.

        1. Wow. I remember standing at the summit of tyrol and looking at the presidentials. I suspect I stood and enjoyed more than skied.

  1. It was real nice to see daylight heading off to work this morning and the sun rising as I arrived. I just wish we could be on Standard Time year round. 🙂

  2. I have no idea what this AccuWeather Trivia Quiz means! Something to do with heating a home??

“Heating degree days” are calculated by taking the outside average temperature and …
    A. Adding 65
    B. Subtracting 32
    C. Dividing by 32
    D. Subtracting it from 65

    Answer(?) later today.

    1. It’s D. Working with the state climatologist, I knew everything there was possible to know about heating degree days and cooling degree days by the end of 1988. 😉

  3. From Judah Cohen…A deep mid-tropospheric trough will bring widespread #cold air and the potential for #snowfall across the Eastern US for much of mid-November. This is likely related to minor #polarvortex disruption currently underway.

    1. Sounds right in line with TKs thinking. It will be interesting as to when the tv mets eventually catch on. 😉

  4. I’m aware of the posting times being incorrect. When the time changes I have to make to shift manually and just haven’t had a chance to yet. Will take care of it later this afternoon.

      1. Even though I supposedly got an extra hour of sleep, I still didn’t feel any less tired when I got up this morning.

I still prefer EST for the morning light if nothing else.

  5. Thank you, TK.

What a day! Just finished a 14 mile bike ride on my trusty three speed.

    Crispy fall weather 🙂

  6. Beautiful day. Was pout and about. Simply gorgeous!

    re: 11/13 or thereabout
Euro is onto this and even though right now calling for a coating boston to 2 inches
N&W. Looks interesting and it’s a way out there, so who knows????? 😀 😀 😀

  7. The time has been adjusted.
All posts before this from today, the comment directly above this one, and a couple on yesterday’s blog, are 1 hour ahead of the actual time. Anything from this post forward will be the correct time.

  8. CPC’s 6-10 and 8-14 both indicate below normal temps for New England. I agree. The mild pattern ends after Wednesday.

I’m still not a fan of how they break that up… 6-10 and 8-14. You get days 8 9 and 10 covered twice. Unnecessary overlap. This is why I do 6-10 & 11-15. The extra day is no big deal because a forecast out that far is very vague anyway.

      1. We’re in the milder pattern now. We should keep positive anomalies through Wednesday then bring them back to near normal Thursday. It may go a little over normal Friday and/or Saturday pending the next system. After that the overall should be negative anomaly Nov 11 through mid month at least.

  9. Answer to trivia quiz.

“Heating degree days” are calculated by taking the outside average temperature and …

    A. Adding 65
    B. Subtracting 32
    C. Dividing by 32
    D. Subtracting it from 65

    The correct answer is D.

    1. I bet people can figure out how to calculate “cooling degree days” now based on what we know from this. 🙂

    2. Thank you, Longshot. In a discussion with our oil company not more than a few weeks ago, I commented on how we get to just where we need oil and they appear for a delivery. This is just our third winter and it hasn’t begun so they impressed me. The woman mentioned subtracting from 65. And a Y or X factor. I clearly retained only part. But I think it was more complicated than your quiz so I see why you didn’t understand it.
