Beautiful day today….got down to the Cape and ended up watching part of a sand castle contest on a bayside beach.
Might next weekend’s cool, crisp, sunny autumnal preview unfortunately end up wet….maybe a noreaster ?
Tom, I certainly hope no rain next weekend…however, the latest CPC 14-day outlook calls for above normal rainfall for us. I have no idea where this possible rain is going to be coming from, but I doubt now that it will come from the tropics. They seem to have settled down now and “Maria” should go the same way as Katia…to Norway last I saw her projected path this morning.
Oh no. Son and a bunch of friends are planning their annual camping trip to Crawford notch next weekend
I have noticed a few teeny, tiny bits of color scattered about here in Boston. Anyone here from the suburbs seen a bit more?
I suspect with next week’s first real chill should start the color going…looking forward to it! 🙂
A few trees that are not quite healthy are showing a touch of color here
Along Rte. 20 in the Weston-Wayland area I noticed a few trees that have a little yellow in them. Otherwise, I haven’t seen any color around yet.
Am I correct– did this blog get one the Most Valuable Blogger Awards 2011???
http://boston.blogger.cbslocal.com/most-valuable-blogger/blog/181-woods-hill-weather-weather-chat/
I also noticed they called it the Woods Hill Weather Weather Chat (2 “Weathers”).
You won it Brian!!!
Not sure ? How can we tell?
Oh my – it looks as if you won!!!! And the link brings you right here. Congratulations and very well deserved!
We are off to the service at the September 11 memorial in Framingham. I was just sitting on the deck reflecting. Funny how the world seems extra quiet this morning. Even the birds.
It dropped down to 46 this morning in Hanover. Chilly! Just like it was 10 years ago.
TK – Congratulations! 🙂 You deserve it!!!
Congrats TK !!
Even though I posted the link above I still can’t tell whether this blog won or not. It’s a little confusing.
Congratulations! First round is on TK!
Congrats TK.
Never forget the lives lost 10 years ago today. I was in high school and watched the whole thing unfold and like many could not believe what I was witnessing. I hope something like that will never happen again.
I do not see where TK has won yet. I remember him saying that the winner will be announced on September 14th. The above site looks the same to me other than there is no longer a “please vote for this site” icon to click on.
Anyway, Mary Blake on WBZ newsradio said that this morning looks similar to the morning of 9/11/01…not a cloud in the sky. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was working in an office tower myself at the time although no where near as high. 🙁
Though I’d love to win, it’s not official yet. Results September 14.
And the double “weather” in the title on their site is because it pulled from the blog header. Woods Hill Weather being the name of the blog and Weather Chat being the subject. It’s a WordPress thing.
You will win it when it becomes official, you deserve it. I hope you had fun at Hampton beach, I have always wanted to go to that. We have friends who rent up hampton beach every year the last week of July and rent like 4houses on Nudd ave. My wife and I rent up there to but have not the last couple of years. My son loves the boardwalk. He likes that gun game where you shoot all of the figures and they move, he calls it shoot the monkey game.
I love Hampton. It’s so honky tonk. There have been some changes in recent years – a couple fires, and a rebuilding of the old bath house into a modernized facility with 2 smaller ones at each end of the beach. Old parking meters gone, pay station replacing it. But so much of it remains as it was when I was little, including the shooting gallery and 2 larger arcades (Funorama & Playland), along with lots of games and fun upstairs in the same floor as the Casino Ballroom in the largest building along the strip.
There are plenty of great beaches in New England, but I will always leave Hampton at the top of my list. 🙂
The shooting gallery that is the game my son calls shoot the monkey. He went up for 3days this year and that was the first place he went.
I also enjoy Hampton. I don’t know if they still do, but in the 1990s they let you ride horses on the beach. My daughter and her trainer would trailer their horses up and it was a blast. I have one picture of my daughter on her pony and it looks as if all four feet are off the sand!
Hi Vicki- All the times that I have gone up I have not seen that, I have been going up since 96.
Just got back from Charlotte, that city has taller skyscrapers and to me seems like a bigger city than boston, from the cities I go to boston seems like it’s getting smaller and smaller and ever so becoming irrelevant as a national city, that’s just me from traveling around the country, Boston is a small to medium size city and would say some of the suburbs of Atlanta or Dallas and many other cities r building beautiful tall skyscrapers, why not Boston? I don’t get? The hancock tower to today’s standard is not tall at all, what happen to Boston the last 25yrs, there building beautiful towers everywhere else as I see the skeleton structures of 50-60 story towers, here we fight over a 25 floor tower that cast a 13 min shadow over a park, I think we need to get our heads outa our ass’s before we become 100% irrelevant
Boston was wasting its time digging a leaky tunnel that drops parts of itself on passing cars…
I’d rather drive through snow and rain in slow traffic on an old roadway than through tunnels that may drop a 3 ton beam down at any moment.
It’s just so sad bc personally myself I want the biggest best city, not a city that fights over shadows, zoning, height, and so many other stupid things, I go to Nashville and everyone’s happy there building 35fl skyscraper that is a beauty about 10 miles west of downtown in a suburb that is very nice, nevermind 10 miles west of Boston in newton or Wellesley they fight over a 25 story tower in Brookline and by the time the activist r done with it, it’s down to 12 floors, my wife wants to leave the area I’m trying to stay, I just not sure how long I can hold out, it’s possible that my fam of 6 might leave the area, I mean u can’t get a drink and dinner past 9 or 10pm unless u want to go into city or u go to your local house of pizza and hope they r open. I love the family thinking but it’s becoming to family oriented IMO
Also it’s the reason why a large percentage of our teen between 18yrs-30yrs old leave the area, and for some reason we r happy with that and continue to be fine with building cvs’s, car dealerships, and no offense intended elderly homes, it’s just sad, thank u for my rant, take it easy tk
It’s to bad that Boston could not do like a times square, they say that Boston is such a great city, how is it really such a good city. I think that some areas outside of boston better than the city itself. They say that New york is the city that does not sleep, why can’t Boston be like that. It would create jobs and money for the state.
Totally John totally and it’s not just that but it’s like a rumor about a six flags coming closer to the Boston area, 495 area, 1st thing people say traffic, well!! Widen the effing road like the rest of the world does, we live in the Boston area and anything that’s proposed is poo pooed, it makes me wanna move really but anyways john take it easy
