Monday Forecast

6:40AM

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 29-MAY 3)
Today will be the nicest day of the next 5, with high pressure in control, but in the pattern we are in, it won’t last, with clouds already arriving later in the day, and wet weather tonight into Tuesday morning, as a small area of low pressure crosses the region west to east. A small bubble of high pressure brings some clearing Tuesday night into early Wednesday as May begins, but we’re back in the dank tank again later Wednesday through Friday as a frontal boundary sits to the south and waves of low pressure ripple along it, keep us cool and damp.
Forecast details…
TODAY: Sunny, fading behind high clouds later. Highs 55-60 coast, 60-65 interior. Wind NW 5-15 MPH becoming light variable with sea breezes.
TONIGHT: Clouding over evening. Cloudy overnight with a chance of rain. Lows 40-47. Wind light variable.
TUESDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain morning. Highs 48-55. Wind E 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 38-45. Wind light NE.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny morning. Mostly cloudy afternoon. Chance of light rain late. Highs 55-62, coolest South Coast. Wind S 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Chance of light rain/drizzle. Lows 45-52. Wind light variable to NE.
THURSDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain/drizzle. Highs 48-55. Wind light NE.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Chance of rain/drizzle. Lows 40-47. Wind light NE.
FRIDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain/drizzle. Highs 48-55. Wind light NE.

DAYS 6-10 (MAY 4-8)
High pressure may sneak in for a nice May 4 before low pressure brings more wet weather for May 5. Clearing and a quick cool shot behind that for May 6 and a warming trend with some cloudiness at times for May 7-8, eventually a risk of rain showers by May 8.

DAYS 11-15 (MAY 9-13)
Another boundary-to-the south, cooler and somewhat unsettled period is possible here. Low confidence at this time.

    1. It would have been close. But that chance I was looking at later this week is gone. Wrong timing.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK.
A tad on the cool side, but otherwise an absolutely beautiful morning.

    1. It is indeed. I want to get a photo of our neighborhood – once trash barrels are pulled in maybe. It is lined with spectacularly white flowered trees.

  2. Thank you TK!

Also, just want to thank everyone for the well wishes. I am back to work today and building strength every day.

    1. I bet Alaska will have better weather this week than we will. Typical New England spring. πŸ™

    2. Seattle has been somewhat dry and cool this past month. Its air quality from the fires is improving which is a good thing of course. Allergies are high because there is no rain to wash the pollen out of the air.

    1. It figures….Looks like they took down the webcam or it was otherwise disabled
shortly after I posted the link. It was snowing really good at Lee Canyon, just
outside of Las Vegas, NV. πŸ™‚

  3. Been on the deck for an hour just loving this amazing world. Multiple songs randomly in a row tell me by brother is near and all I have to do it look up

THIS is spring. It doesn’t do it justice because it curves out of sight. The opposite street is also lined. Damn but it is a beautiful world

  4. Gorgeous day today. Light wind, lots of sun which has since faded behind some ice crystal cloudiness. I had to visit a couple cemeteries to take care of some tulips that my mom put out on relatives’ graves. They are thriving. This has been one of the best starts to the growing season with a mild but not excessively wet April, frequent light rainfall and limited heavy rain events. Everything around here bloomed 1 to 2 weeks ahead of the last few years, and about on par with 2012.

And our ongoing/upcoming cooler pattern will still be to a lesser degree than what we had, say, last year in April, and others in recent and more distant times. We should also get one stellar day over the weekend (not sure about both). Next week will be about an even mix of fair & foul, but once again not seeing any signs of anything major going on, storm-wise.

    1. Oh yes and seeing people all in a twist over isolated frost this morning like it was unprecedented was rather amusing. Do they not realize that across SNE the average last frost date is in the first 20 days of MAY?!?!?! Let’s get real for a change and stop letting the weather traumatize the population. It’s not that bad.

  5. We may have a 40 degree spread across SNE Thursday afternoon. I can’t say this is highly unusual for April or May (it will be May 2). The “tab” in southwestern CT may be 80-82 while Cape Ann to Boston is in the lower 40s. πŸ˜‰

  6. Thank you, TK.

    Today was an April beauty.

For those of you who miss a real pitcher, here’s Pedro Martinez’ last win in the majors. Man, Pedro knew how to pitch. Command of all pitches. Location. Location. Location. Sure, he wasn’t as dominant in his last years in the league, but he sure was better than what we’re seeing from most of the Sox starters.

      1. Oh and it’s called the one not symphony….I think….so…

Boy I have no clue. Can you tell πŸ™‚

        1. You probably know some Alan Parsons Project songs from the 1980s, like “Eye In The Sky” for example.

  7. Anyway the song… “One Note Symphony”
    1) All the lead vocals are sung in one note. Vocalist for that track is Todd Cooper.
    2) The pitch of the song is based off the frequency of Earth’s magnetic field: 7.83 Hz.

    1. Thank you, Captain, for sending me here. This is fascinating, TK. I kind of figured the one note but had no clue re the magnetic field. Good catch, Captain, for picking up on the 7.83

I somehow skipped a lot of the 80s and 90s music….perhaps because I was listening to oldies or because the kids were in the car dictating what I listened to and I tuned a lot of it out πŸ˜‰

      Thank you, TK.
