Tuesday Forecast

7:14AM

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 30-MAY 4)
Back to the dominant unsettled weather pattern for the next 5 days with waves of low pressure keeping clouds and occasional wet weather around. We do get breaks, like tomorrow, which will be mostly dry with some sunshine as well, and possibly part of Saturday, which may see stronger high pressure push the wet weather to the south for a time.
Forecast details…
TODAY: Mostly cloudy. Periods of rain morning. Highs 48-55. Wind light variable.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 38-45. Wind light variable.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 55-62, coolest coast. Wind light variable
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Chance of light rain/drizzle. Lows 45-52. Wind light variable to NE.
THURSDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain/drizzle morning. Temperatures steady 45-52. Wind light NE.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Chance of rain/drizzle. Lows 40-47. Wind light NE.
FRIDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain/drizzle. Highs 45-55. Wind light NE.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain evening. Patchy fog. Lows 42-49. Wind light NE to N.
SATURDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of rain showers. Highs 53-60. Wind N 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (MAY 5-9)
Unsettled pattern overall but hard to tell which days stand the greatest chance of wet weather at this point. Temperatures start out below normal then trend milder.

DAYS 11-15 (MAY 10-14)
Another boundary-to-the south, cooler and somewhat unsettled period is possible here. Low confidence forecast. The pattern can break at any time as model guidance tends to not see that coming.

  1. Thanks TK. It has been rather wet and cloudy, the marsh behind my house is full about 75% up the old river bank. Most of the rain though has been over night hours though so its not as bad as it could be for early spring but now its heading into May the time of year in which people expect it to be in the 60s and 70s.

Also side note I made a website about myself, many graduate students in the natural sciences does this and attach it to social media etc so people that have jobs they know about can send information if they feel like your a good fit.
I made a website and Vicki helped 🙂 Thanks again Vicki 🙂

    1. Thank you for the honor of asking me to help, Matt, but you did the work. The site looks awesome! As Mac would say – my buttons are bursting!

    2. Super start Matt !!

Hope you’ll repost this link in a couple years to see what you have added to each section.

  2. Good morning and thank you TK.
Even though there was a touch of drizzle out there this morning, it was very comfortable and pleasant walking from the lot to our building. I wasn’t the slightest bit cold.
Something must be wrong with me. 🙂 🙂

  3. Some fresh snow in the mountains of northern VT this past weekend. Still lots to melt off. These shots were taken at Stowe yesterday and Sunday….

Snow depth at Stowe at 3,000′ still around 3-4 feet:

Stowe is now closed for the season but still good skiing out there if you want to hike it…

  4. As of this AM, over 9″ of rain on the month of April at my house.

BDL is sitting at 8.06″ (average is 3.6″)

This started last year and I’m not sure why. The GFS 2m temps in warm season are much too high. FV3 at least is not doing it as badly but still may be an issue at times?

      1. Nice…enjoy! They actually had some fresh snow there this AM. I think after this coming weekend, Killington is going to be it for the rest of the season. Jay Peak and Sugarloaf are calling it quits after this weekend.

  5. TK…Thanks for sharing that new Alan Parsons Project song last night. I did listen to it a couple of times for the answers to your questions. I did pick up the number 7.83, but I’ll be darned what it means. (I did not cheat!!!) 🙂
All I could come up with is the ERA for the month of April for the Red Sox starters! 🙂

The lyrics sound very scientific…something about frequency of sound waves. I dunno…7.83 light years from sounds from another galaxy????

A very creative and interesting song by the APP!!!!

      1. OK…I got my answers from the end of yesterday’s posts from earlier this morning!!!!
        I get it now…

    1. Is this from your condo? It is awesome. And if it is, what kind of camera do you have. I really want one…not for out front but out back to see the critters.

            1. Ohhhh that is a whole lot easier than I expected. Now to find a son in law 🙂

Yours looked as if it has a good range.

              Thanks again, Coastal

  6. Headed to Sox game soon. I have a hoodie sweatshirt under a leather jacket.
Should do the trick. 1st 7,500 fans receive a free hat. We shall see.

Registering 52 at the house right now.

I took a walk a little bit ago. Not too bad out there at all.

    1. Enjoy and bring them luck

I’m on deck. Long sleeve tee and light sweats. Birds are singing up a storm and resident turkeys are using our yard to hide during turkey hunting season…bow I think.

There is a comfort in the blanket of clouds.

  7. You know what we have not seen this spring so far? A “wheel of misfortune” as Barry B. calls it, or a cut off low spinning with New England in the unsettled portion of it.

That may happen toward mid May as the atmosphere may finally support one. Supporting this theory further is the Woburn carnival which is setting up shop in the city May 16-19. On average, it is wet at least part of 3 out of the 4 days. 😉

  8. Thank God the sun was only out for ten minutes. Temp rocketed to 52 and I was concerned my boiler might not have to run tonight……again…..I mean, still.

  9. Thank you, TK.

Ah, the wheel of misfortune, just what we’re all waiting for in New England – a good old-fashioned cut-off low that lasts a week. Basically, this would be a replacement for the active progressive pattern we’re currently in during which lows frequently visit our area and that pass on through with another waiting in the wings.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are an impressive team. They’re fearless, hit hard, are opportunistic, have a terrific goalie, and just know how to play hockey. I’m not saying the Bruins don’t. But at this point I would not be surprised if Columbus goes all the way. They epitomize a Cinderella team.

    1. I agree. As hard as I’m rooting for the Bruins, it’s fun to watch a underdog team play so well. Just rather it not happen in this series. 😉

Not sure about the “wheel” yet. I suspect there will be one, but it can just as easily end up further south, or even west. Time will tell.

        1. Twice in spring…..Arod, this can only mean we will have a late snow 😉

Seriously, I like seeing your Name here in non snow seasons
