DAYS 1-5 (MAY 3-7)
I often profess my contentment with any kind of weather, but I know many of you are tired of hearing about unsettled weather, so I’ll keep this forecast short, although, for you, it’s not all bad news. There are some nicer days starting to show up again in the forecast. But first, another unsettled and cool one today, brief improvement Saturday, downhill again Sunday as another low pressure wave passes by, and then 2 better days to start next week as high pressure settles in and pushes the unsettled weather away to the south.
Forecast details…
TODAY: Cloudy. Areas of fog. Patchy drizzle. Rain showers arrive west to east this afternoon. Highs 47-54. Wind light E to SE.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Rain showers ending west to east early to mid morning. Highs 52-59 coast, 60-67 interior. Wind light variable.

MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 45-52. Wind light W.

DAYS 6-10 (MAY 8-12)
Transitional pattern gets underway here but not exactly sure how it evolves yet. I think this 5-day period may feature a westerly flow and still a couple unsettled weather systems coming through, but on the weak side with limited rainfall and more seasonable temperatures overall. Fine tuning to do…
DAYS 11-15 (MAY 13-17)
Still watching for the potential for a spring block with a cut-off low somewhere and still too much uncertainty on if/when/where to be sure how the weather turns out during this period. Leaning toward unsettled first half, drying second half of period. Much fine tuning to do…
Thanks TK !
Thank you TK and Happy Friday to all.
As someone who deals with the public all day every day I can report that people have been meaner, angrier and more nasty than usual lately. I’ve had more than one person tell me they’ve felt “ground down” or “beaten up” by day after day of rain, drizzle and 40°s…….
I believe it. As I said the other day folks have perfected the art of complaining. I understand lack of sun can have an affect on some; however, the number is nowhere as great as those complaining. I think folks are in serious trouble if they allow something as unpredictable as the weather to determine their moods.
Good morning and thank you TK.
Typical Spring YUCK!!!
Happy Friday…
So, IF I can get out fishing this weekend, I suppose it must be Saturday….
Only problem is, Sunday IS the day I can…. Go Figure…..
Fishing in the rain is some of the best fishing 😉 Or that is what my dad told my brother and me. As I’ve said, I always thought it was my mom’s way of having the house to herself for a bit!
There is something to be said for that, within reason, however.
Yep – the part about my mom wanting time alone 😉
Good morning. Thank you, TK. And happy Friday to all.
I thought I’d try an inspirational quote.
Sunshine is delicious,
rain is refreshing,
wind braces us up,
snow is exhilarating;
there is really no such thing as bad weather,
only different kinds of good weather.
John Ruskin
He forgot HHH…which is disgusting. 😉
Thanks TK
When the public learns not to focus on the negative, their moods will improve.
🙂
The tv newscasters don’t help matters. During weather intros, they use nothing but negative words like AWFUL, DEPRESSING, BLAH, etc. Nothing short of whining, really.
But but but but – don’t we control how we feel – not apps and the views of others?
While you’re correct in one sense, what does it say if we let them control how we feel?

I just tell people gray skies are gunna clear up and to put on a happy face https://youtu.be/I_CE7GqqrvY
Absolutely love watching this. It is impossible to watch without smiling. Great actor and actress! Thank you.
Thanks TK.
It could be worse….you could be up the coast a bit more in the Maritimes:

This is Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland by the way.
Yes, sir!
Looks pretty though. Obviously not for early May. 🙂
Nice sunshine in Mansfield
Sun made an appearance in Sutton a bit ago. Lovely filtered blue sky mixed with clouds.
Not quite as good here but did make a brief appearance. Gone for now though. Maybe tomorrow?
I was getting nervous. After almost a full day of rain yesterday in Amesbury, it did not start raining today until 1:30 today. 🙂 I’ll stay crabby regarding this wretched stretch of blah weather, thank you. The lack of sun us really no fun.
I think the typo (us instead of is) and unnecessarily repeating the word “today” reflect my mood. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Heavy rain now in Coventry, CT. 57 degrees
The 12z models have seemed to trend further south Sunday, with the wave. Perhaps a trend to lighter rain Sunday that may only reach so far north into southern New England ??
Let us hope that trend continues.
Getting dark here.
Rain ready to pounce on Boston. Looks heavy on radar. 🙁
Interesting temperature profile:
Logan 52
Norwood 63
Interesting only in that it reflects a light onshore wind at the airport and a light variable wind slightly inland.
Will Sunday be dryer than we expected this morning?
If we simply look at the 12Z 3KM NAM, then absolutely!!
In fact, most of the day would be DRY!!!
Then again, that is just 1 model run, which I sincerely hope is CORRECT!!
AND, fwiw, the Euro says pretty much DRY as WELL!!
On the hand, the GFS, and CMC say RAIN, while the ICON
is a bit in between.
Of course we all know what the models would be saying if this was February…there would be no contest. 😉
Having said that, this past winter most if not all of the systems that could have brought us snow never even had a chance to even make it as far north to even make it a “close call”.
or drier
You may be onto something. If it isn’t drier, you may well need a dryer.
I found it – the quote that is most me. Maybe that is why I am not bothered by the weather. I’ll sit out in anything.
Bad weather always looks worse through a window.

Whoa. EPS completely abandoned ship on the Sunday rainstorm. Still keeping a chance of rain in the forecast, especially south of the Pike. But this is quite encouraging.

Well, if it is here, we haven’t had a whole lot lately so time to do our share! Thanks, Mark.
18z NAM maintains the trend and is dry as a bone on Sunday, pretty much right down to the south coast.
Of the major TV folks, Wankum on ch 5 is the only one still staying with a Sunday washout including downpours afternoon and evening. Everybody else has gone to a much drier forecast.
I’m going to wait one more model cycle before I think about changing anything.
The town canceled the event yesterday morning Tk regarding the event we discussed . Tk what should the temp be tomorrow down here .
You should be in the upper 50s to lower 60s for a high temp I think.
This is hands down the worst spring I can remember. Just shot 15 minutes a little further north into Rutland to pick up one of my daughters. Landscape looks completely mid winter with hardly mentionable buds even. Totally depressing.
Come to Sutton. We are glorious.
Jimmy James I mentioned my high school dress code yesterday. Today this was posted on my high school FB page. Oddly, I’ve been saying things lately and then something about them shows up. Beginning to give me a bit of the heebie jeebies
https://imgur.com/a/IhhcGOU
For all. It’s fun to read. I suspect older folks here will be familiar with this dress code
TK not sure why but I keep getting s warning that this site is not secure
Not sure if it is updated to https
I get those from time to time on certain sites out of nowhere for a day or 2 then it just stops. Not sure what the reason is. I’ll have my techie do a check here anyway.
I get it every time I sign in but kept forgetting to mention. I suspect it is because you haven’t converted to https. We had to a while ago. But then there isn’t anything I can think of that needs to be secure on whw
ditto here. In fact right now it says not secure…
I am seeing something I did not think I would see today when I woke up. THE SUN!!!
Vicki thanks for posting that link.
No sun here yet. But muggy
Tk…the more I read, the more it seems you don’t really need an SSL certificate. We don’t exchange any info (e.g., CC info) through whw. If you decide you need to get a cert and there is a cost involved, I would be happy to help pay for it.
I will check on that.
A funny thing happened last night….Chris Sale finally learned how to pitch
OR alternatively, he completed his Spring Training….
Sox are going to be fine this season.
That pitching line looked more like what you expect to see from Sale. Now was it just one good start or has he turned the corner. Another game another injury for the Yankees as James Paxton left the game with left knee soreness and MRI scheduled for today. It is unbelievable with all these injuries and yet have an 18-13 record.
New post!
Waiting to see how many people ’round social media focus on only the foul weather days and spend the fair weather days bitching about foul weather days. 😉 I am not sure I feel bad for laughing about it anymore. 😉 Oh well.
