Today was very likely the nicest day of the week. The next fair weather day, Wednesday, will be warm but also rather humid. In between, a frontal system crossing the region Tuesday will produce a few showers, but this system will be weakening, so shower chances are greatest west of Boston, and less from Boston southeastward toward Cape Cod. Another frontal system will move into the region Thursday, then stall along the East Coast, with a low pressure area forming along it, holding unsettled weather in through at least Friday, and probably for a portion of the weekend as well.
Boston Area Forecast…
OVERNIGHT: Increasing clouds. Low 50-55 except a few upper 40s over valley areas. Wind SW under 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Isolated to scattered showers from mid morning on, earliest and greatest chance north and west of Boston, lesser chance to the southeast. High 67-72. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Areas of fog. Slight chance of showers early. Low 62-67. Wind SW under 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. High 74-79. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY: Showers likely. Low 66. High 74.
FRIDAY: Periods of rain. Low 61. High 71.
SATURDAY: Chance of showers. Low 55. High 69.
SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy. Low 54. High 70.
Thanks TK.
Yes, thanks for the update TK…and sorry about your cousin. 🙁
The upside to the changing weekend weather outlook is mild nights for camping. I’m thinking maybe the westward trend in the models of the Atlantic Ridge and the Mississippi Valley upper low will continue and by the weekend, it will end up being partly sunny, warm and humid locally and the wet weather will set up in western New England.
Thanks TK!! Hoping that the forecast doesn’t pan out for the early part of the weekend and clearning comes in sooner!
I am still thinking some where in the 80″ -90″ range for Logan as I mentioned weeks ago. At that time TK, did not think I was that off. Time will tell though, it should a fun first half!
TK- Sorry about your cousin. I went online last night and read the WSI report. The very first thing that I thought of was you and how you said the first half of the mounth could be the worst. I remember I had asked you the question and that was your reply, good job
master TK.
meant to say first half of winter. If the forcast hold maybe we can get a white christmas, we had one in pembroke last year.
TK I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your cousin. You are right that she was far too young. It is such a horrible disease.
Sorry for your loss TK! She is in a better place!
Is Saturday a bust?
I would not cancel any Saturday plans at this point.
TK – sorry for your loss.
TK I am sorry for your loss.
Thanks TK. It is a sad time for you and your family, I hope by sharing in your sadness we help a little.
TK,
I am very sorry to hear of your loss.
Hang in there and keep up the great work.
Thanks to all of you!
I’m attending a back-to-school night at my son’s school to meet his teachers early this evening, then I need to write an essay (yup, his teachers gave ME homework – haha!), and then I will update the blog for you all a bit later this evening.
Back in my day, parent-teachers meetings didn’t start until about midway through the school semesters usually about twice a year IIRC.
Also, I don’t understand the purpose of the parent having to write an essay.
Thats a great idea….a math assignment for the parents. 🙂 I’ll have to try that……
Our schools open house is tomorrow and like you said Philip, the parent teacher conferences come later in October….
Resigning to the fact that we will be setting up the popup in the rain on Friday. 🙁
At first I raised my eyebrow, but then I thought about it. One of the problems today is too many parents are uninvolved in their child’s education. And this essay’s purpose is to have the parents tell the teachers something about their children. It’s a nice way to establish a 3-way connection between parent(s), child, and teachers.
I rather enjoyed writing this essay, but I have become enthusiastic about writing during the last few years anyway, so it was a pleasure for me.
Just reading on AccuWeather and the last section about a sneek peak at winter and the thinking is the winter will be remembered for a lot of cutters and clippers.
Sorry JJ- what does cutters mean.
Its another way of saying inside runner and the outcome would be us on the mild side of the storm and to the
west of the storm track the wintry side. If that scenario accuweather is talking about that would not be good
news if you are a snowlover than me. I do expect less coastal storms this winter.
Thank’s for explaining that. I am trying to learn from you guys as still fairly new to some thing, so thank you for teaching me something new. As I said before I am hoping for a quiet winter
So does AccuWeather and WSI seem to have good records, which one would you say is better and has been more on the money.
WSI is exceptional.
I have worked with many of the people there at one point or another during my career.
“WSI Anticipates Another Cold Late Fall & Early Winter in the Eastern U.S.”
Here is the link: http://wsi.com
Then click on above title under “News” at left.
They obviously hacked my computer and stole my winter forecast. 😉 JUST KIDDING!
If the blocking sets up during the second half of winter, when the La Nina is near or at it’s peak, then watch out!
This winter will certainly be interesting.
We have to be careful because too strong a La Nina tends to warm up the entire East including New England.
Hey TK, you seem quite impressed by WSI. Now I am curious…how did they do forecasting “last” winter?
They didn’t do as well as they could have, because they and many others did not anticipate the blocking to be as persistent and strong as it turned out.
