DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 2-6)
Yesterday morning it was the high altitude smoke, this morning it is the low stuff (fog, low clouds), and it will take a while to burn it off where it is because there is cloudiness above taking a bite out of the sun’s power this morning. But a good thing, especially with so much planned outside, is that we won’t have a rainy day today. Other than some patchy light drizzle within the foggy areas the first part of the morning, and the remote risk of a pop up shower later this morning as we start to transition out of the marine air, it’ll be a rain-free day, with showers holding off until later this evening and tonight from a cold front moving across the region. An upper level cool pool will still trigger the risk of a few instability showers Monday but this threat looks less for Tuesday as it should move out more quickly. But a warm front may bring a few showers to the region Tuesday night and lead to a much warmer day Wednesday with high pressure centered south of the region. A weak cold front in the vicinity on Thursday may trigger a few showers and thunderstorms.
Forecast details…
TODAY: Fog/low clouds dominant with patchy light drizzle through mid morning, then mostly cloudy to partly sunny remainder of the day with no more than an isolated shower late morning. Highs 63-68 coastline, 68-73 elsewhere. Wind light variable to SE.
TONIGHT: Cloudy. Showers and a risk of a thunderstorm southwestern NH, central MA, eastern CT, and a risk of showers further east. Lows 55-62. Wind light variable.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Isolated to scattered showers, mainly afternoon and early evening. Highs 63-70. Wind N 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
MONDAY NIGHT: Variably cloudy. Scattered showers possible early. Lows 50-57. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
TUESDAY: Partly cloudy. Highs 65-72. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Lows 51-58. Wind light variable.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 75-82, cooler Cape Cod. Wind SW 10-20 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 56-63. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny. Isolated showers and thunderstorms possible. Highs 77-84, cooler South Coast. Wind SW to S 5-15 MPH becoming variable.
DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 7-11)
The large scale pattern will be similar to the current one, mean trough position in eastern Canada with a ridge to the west (Midwest / Great Lakes). This pattern will send disturbances southeastward across New England and bring a few opportunities for showers. Temperatures, while somewhat variable, will average fairly close to seasonal normals overall. Some guidance wants to bring a shot of very warm to hot air in near the end of this period but holding off on going with that for now.
DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 12-16)
Still holding with the same general pattern but watching for a quick switch to hotter for a day or 2. There is some uncertainty still.
Thank you as always for all you do. I hope you have a fun Sunday morning. Are you out and about with your mom?
The start of meteorological summer feels more like the start of meteorological spring. Not living up to its reputation in the least so far. I had to turn up the heat again for a few minutes late yesterday.
And according to Barry, midweek mugginess. Wouldn’t you know it. At least the hot stuff is kept at bay for now.
Look back in the records and you’ll find that this is a more normal beginning.
Besides it’s not hot and humid right? 😀
Well, that’s true I suppose. 🙂
Good morning and thank you TK.
Kind of yucky at the moment….
Happy to see that the Bruins woke up and played like they should.
If they continue to play like that, they will win the Cup. Now let’s
see what St. Louis does in game 4.
Cassidy said/did something for sure. I think he is a great coach and a far cry
from that moron Claude. Best move the Bruins have ever made.
What I was impressed was that a Bruins player during the post game interview said that there are still more things we need to work on. THAT sounded like a Patriots-Way attitude. I like that! 😀
How much more can you improve on a 7-2 win though? 🙂
7-1 or 7-0 I suppose. 🙂
“Complacency” is certainly not in this team’s vocabulary. 🙂
As long as they remember that 10-0, 1-0, 5-4, 7-2, no matter what the score, it counts as ONE win, and they are up 2-1 in the series. They have to put that game right behind them even though they won it, and focus on doing the right things again in game 4. It starts at 0-0 game and 2-1 series, a lot closer than a 7-2 comfy win. Play sloppy, we’ll be right back to a tied series. At the very least, they will get out of St. Louis with 1 win, an even series, and the next game at home. But they’ll go hard for it, and try to take a commanding lead home.
It would be great if they can win game 5 and celebrate at home like in 1970. 🙂 In 2011 it was on the road thousands of miles away on the other coast.
Absolutely perfect Sunday morning.

Thanks TK
Thank you, TK.
What I like a lot about the Bruins is the fact that so many are local `kids.’ The team’s top players are from outside the U.S., but the majority of the second-tier players (Bruins’ strength is their depth, in my opinion) are American, and a number of those are from New England.
Thanks TK.
SPC Outlook for today. They went back to the original slight risk area of western MA and CT after taking it away in the outlook that came out in the wee hours of the morning. Sun starting to come out now and I’ll be watching the radar later.

I’ve posted this story in several places on Facebook but I wanted to share it here…
So all day yesterday a mourning dove sat in my mom’s garden. It would walk to various spots and sit. And sometimes it sat in one place for a long time. After a while I was thinking it was injured and couldn’t fly. Finally at the end of the day I went back to check on it and found it still sitting but in a spot about 5 feet from where photo #1 was taken. At that time another dove came down and landed on a nearby fence and made a noise at me, so I said to the sitting dove “Here’s your friend to get you. Can you fly?” Immediately after that, the sitting dove and fence dove took off and flew to a nearby shed roof and perched exactly how they appear in photo #2.

Oh my.
For you. For your mom. You know I believe. I’m surprised I hadn’t seen this on FB but am sure glad you posted here.
Neat !
I always thought doves were only white. Cute. 🙂
The mourning dove is the most common around here.
Simply stunning, TK! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks TK !

It’s going to run out of time, encountering Mexico, but can see a broad surface circulation and some upper level venting.
TK, thanks for sharing the dove story. I like birds of all kinds.
I don’t know if it’s an old wives tale but I’ve heard that if a bird flies into your house it means death to a family member soon.
I will say this, a bat came into my house and my father died suddenly the next month.
Well, that is sobering. We have them fly into our slider regularly. They think they see another bird taking over their territory or they think they see a bird to mate with.
I’ll go with that
Is that slider actually inside your house?
I looked up “slider”. It’s a door, never mind Vicki. Got it now! 🙂
Every time I hear “slider”, I think about sandwiches…..
Ha…..
Neighbors filled their pool and kids are in it. Their lips are blue but then kids just enjoy the fun.
Sun is now out here and it’s warmed up quite a bit.
I think what you described is universal 🙂 🙂 🙂
It sure is Tom.
Bobcat not far from daughters house today. But someone saw on the animal path from neighboring street to us last week. It is generally the path the wildlife takes along the ridge behind our house. Would have loved to see him

Daughter in Uxbridge that is
86 and sunny. Still a haze. Smoke? I love the shade of light blue it turns the sky
Looks like our warm spot today was Hartford with a 78, everybody else lower to middle 70s interior, upper 60s to lower 70s closer to coast before the ocean air moved in.
86 in Sutton. But Down to 75 with an absolutely glorious breeze. 11 on scale of 1-10
That’s impressive. Norwood only made 78 and Pawtucket 72.
It was very nice today.
63 at Logan today. 🙁
I find it interesting how the second day of meteorological summer can be so chilly but Columbus Day Weekend the past few years has had HHH.
Our 21st century climate has clearly lost it. 😉
If that’s the case, the 20th century, 19th, 18th, etc. were lost too. Because the second day of meteorlogical summer is not always hot, since it’s still spring with cool ocean water, and Columbus Day weekend is coming at a time when ocean water temperatures are normally quite a bit warmer.
Nothing really unusual here.
In Arlington, getting clipped by southern end of showers/storms.
Very dark a bit ago.
Thunderstorm here, heavy rain with lack of lightning, just a few rumbles. It’s pulling out. I am going to go out and see if I can find a rainbow.
Cool.
Looks as if the southern end of that line of storms is really weak. Probably a good thing since I didn’t pull deck umbrella out of the base
Well then ..looks what that line is doing.
Also, speaking of our crazy climate, Killington ended its ski season today.
The Red Sox have a knack of winning the rubber game of its series. They beat the Yankees 8-5 tonight. Too bad they don’t have the same knack of actually winning a series like two out of three.

Various plumes of smoke continue.
New post!
