Wednesday Forecast

7:29AM

DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 12-16)
Quick changing weather day-to-day remains the theme of this pattern and this will be going on for some time with high pressure bringing nice weather today, passing low pressure bringing a good slug of rain Thursday, a drying westerly breeze trying to bring fair weather back Friday while passing upper level low pressure tries to ignite a few showers, then a weekend which favors fair weather Saturday and a shower/t-storm threat Sunday.
Forecast details…
TODAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 73-80. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Clouding over. Lows 55-62. Wind light S.
THURSDAY: Overcast. Periods of rain, possibly heavy, with a risk of a thunderstorm. Areas of fog. Highs 62-69, may cool back to upper 50s coast. Wind SE 10-20 MPH.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Patchy fog. Lingering showers and possibly a thunderstorm evening. Lows 55-62. Wind variable 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny. Slight risk of a passing shower. Highs 67-74. Wind W 10-20 MPH.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 48-53 interior valleys, 53-58 elsewhere. Wind light NW.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 75-82. Wind WSW 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 57-64. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Variably cloudy. Scattered showers. Isolated thunderstorms. More humid. Highs 76-83, cooler coastal areas. Wind SW to variable 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 17-21)
Shower/thunderstorm threat lingers with a front in the vicinity June 17 and possibly into June 18, with the next threat from a passing disturbance about June 20. Much of the time will be rain-free. A broad zonal (west to east) flow doesn’t allow it to get too cool but also prevents heat.

DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 22-26)
Zonal (west to east) pattern, but with a tendency for more ridging to start becoming established from the lower Mississippi Valley to Tennessee Valley will start to push the jet stream a little further north and allow a little better chance for very warm to hot weather mid to late period.

  1. Mr. bunny was in the yard again this morning. For whatever reason, he
seems to enjoy eating our grass. That rabbit is certainly welcome to it!!

  2. For those of you who may like horses and then even if you don’t, if you like
beautiful Rocky Mountain scenery, then may I suggest a Netflix series entitled
“Heartland”. The acting is OK, but not great and some of the story lines get a bit sappy at times, but the horses and scenery are really quite spectacular. It runs for at least
10 seasons and was the #1 series in Canada.

It is filmed in the Province of Alberta.

If you think it might interest you, check it out.

oh, btw, errors can be found all over the place, especially with the weather.
It will show one scene with snow all over the place and then another scene
the same day a couple of miles away with bare ground and green grass. 🙂 🙂
Things that drive me NUTS, but I try to overlook in this series.

          1. The Mrs. and I are looking forward to it as well.

Long ago, we used to see the Bruins at the old Boston Garden all of the time. We watched Bobby Orr in his first season. Believe it or not, we would just show up at the garden at game time and purchase 2nd balcony seats for $2.00.

I used to love hockey, but I eventually got away from it. But, really enjoying this Stanley Cup run.

            GO BRUINS!!!

            1. I heard on the radio this morning that someone paid $11,000 from ACE/Stub Hub for seats first row, next to the glass!

    1. As you know, I don’t watch hockey but the excitement has me looking forward to the game also. Now from an person who has no clue, what time and I’m assuming major channel.

      1. It is NBC and should be on Comcast channel 810.
Sometimes NBC opts to have it on their sports network, which
would then be 865. Again on Comcast. I have no idea with
        other cable outlets.

          1. I am TOO CHEAP to order that service.
I have no problems keying in the proper channel
            into the remote.

Btw, have I ever said how much I HATE COMCAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

            The company SUCKS big time!

            1. I totally agree old salty . Unfortunately in pembroke it’s my only choice & they know they got us by the throat .

          2. I would love the speak option but spend too much time telling things what to do rather than getting up to do them myself. Although, with a remote, you don’t get up either way. I have Verizon but also have amazon alexa soundbar on the TV. I have been too lazy to look into setting it up.

    1. Not in the Providence market. WJAR (Providence channel 10) is the only NBC affiliate for us down here.

  3. This will be the first ever Stanley Cup game 7 Final in the Garden.

The first team to score in a game 7 wins the Stanley Cup 75% of the time, if I understand correctly.

    1. Thanks, Philip…That leads to some stats that I looked up and figured out last night, Nerd Stat man that am I:

      Stanley Cup Finals: Boston has won the Cup in Boston (not on the road) twice in history (1939, 1970); Tonight will be the ninth time that the Cup has been skated around Boston ice, six times by another team (three times by Montreal);
Boston has only played in one other Game Seven, when they won it in Vancouver in 2011.
The Boston Bruins are 6-13 in Stanley Cup Finals.

NBA Finals: The Boston Celtics played in 8 Game 7s and won 7 of them! They won five Game 7s in Boston .
The Celtics won the title in Boston (not on the road) 10 times!!!
The Boston are 17-4 in NBA Finals.

World Series: The Red Sox have played five Game 7s and are 1-4. The Sox won 1 Game 7 in Boston (1912). The Red Sox won the World Series five times in Boston and the Braves did it twice in Boston. The Red Sox are 9-4 in the World Series.

The Patriots are 6-5 in Super Bowl appearances and are 11-5 in the American Football Conference Championship games. They are 7-1 in AFC title games in Foxborough.

Since October, our Boston teams have won 10 playoff series/games and have only lost one (Celtics to the Bucks). Bruins can make it 11 tonight.

  4. 1.23″ healthy rainfall yesterday.

    Three-day heatwave two years ago (90, 98, 98) these days, June 12-14.

Clearly, I am avoiding correcting my students’ final exams.

    1. LOL…I was just on PowerSchool checking out my older son’s grades and was wondering if they are final. There may be teachers at his school in the same boat as you. 🙂

    1. I would go with the same lineup as game 6 and not play G. But whatever Coach Cass decides is ok by me.

  5. Sox of course started their game at 4 for obvious reasons. Already in a 2-0 hole, top of 1st inning.

          1. I don’t think it is too late for a postseason run. There are not a lot of great teams in the American League. Even if the Rays or Yankees get the first wild card there is still a second wild card spot. Cleveland may sell and if they do they will be done and I am not sold on Texas or Oakland so the Red Sox just might get that second wild card.

  6. If the Blues win great story. A team that was in last place in the league on January 3rd wins the whole thing is impressive. The Blues super fan Laila Anderson has a story that touches your heart.

    1. Agree. I’ve followed the Blues’ Cinderella season. It’s a remarkable run they’ve been on since Christmas. Do I like their style of play? No. I much prefer the Bruins’ new style of play. And I’m certainly rooting for the Bruins to win tonight. But, the Blues do remind me of the old Bruins.

Regarding Laila Anderson, you may have seen my post above. Laila’s story is special. When her mother asks, “of all the places in the world, where would you want to see Game 7?” Laila says without hesitation “Boston.”

There’s also something notable about the way hockey players talk about Laila. Players in other sports should take note. Blues player Colton Parayko wears a bracelet with the words “Laila Strong.” He told the Dispatch that the 11-year-old motivates him.

“We might lose a hockey game and we’re so frustrated and go home upset, but people are out there trying to battle for their lives,” Parayko said. “That’s the way she is. The thing she taught me is — just be a warrior. It’s meant a lot, because she continues to battle, yet she’s always happy.”

Gosh, do I love hockey players. Tough as nails, yet humble and kind.

      1. See my stats above. Bruins are DONE I’m afraid. And no more duckboat parades until next February at the earliest. 🙁

    1. Agree, sort of.

Bruins dominated the first period and should have scored. Plain and simple. I thought their shots were either too soft or mostly right at Binnington. On the other side of the ice, the operative word is opportunistic. The Blues are supremely opportunistic. I can’t stand that way of playing. I hate it, actually. But, it gets results, and therefore I must respect it. I see it a lot in soccer. The teams are called `counter teams’ who rely on the `counter’ to score. They can’t generate offense well. They don’t have the same skill set. But, they wait to effectively ambush the other team.

  7. The one thing I’d like to see more of is shooting from near the blue line. The Blues seem to always have their defensemen at the points ready to shoot. Bruins are more prone to try and pass it around, get it closer to the net and then shoot. At this point, shooting from outside is, I believe, a more effective option.

  8. If the Blues win Jordan Binnington a big reason why. Bruins could have been up two or three nothing if he did not make those saves.

    1. Agree. His save a few minutes ago was spectacular.

Bruins had a great season. Making it this far is fantastic. But, the Blues deserve the Cup. If you win 3 times on the road in the final series you deserve to win. Blues capitalized on every opportunity. Countered when they could, and had an eye for the back of the net.

    1. You didn’t jinx anything.

I’ll proudly wear my Bruins shirt tomorrow, because I love the team. Really like their style of hockey. They have a good future ahead of them. It’s too bad they didn’t bring their A game today. Alas. That’s sports. It’s why we watch.

  9. I had a bad feeling when they didn’t capitalize in the 1st. You could tell Binnington was gonna have the game of his life. Had they found the net early, things easily could’ve turned out differently. But things snowball, and while down 1-0 is manageable, once you’re down 2-0 that’s pretty much it, and from there the added numbers don’t really matter. There were several “blowouts” in this series, but in reality these two teams are very evenly matched. The Blues just a little better.

    1. True. It also wasn’t a good match-up for the Bruins. Hard to coach against, if you will. I did think the Blues coach did an excellent job keeping it “simple.” He kept saying that, and I know what he meant. It’s not pretty hockey. But, it got them the Cup.

    1. Agree. It’s what separates hockey from other sports, in my view. It’s really hard to lose a Game 7. But, you go out with your head up, respect the other team, and move on. Remember, the Bruins started this season losing 7-0 to Washington. They’ve come a long way. And man, do they skate, pass, and stick handle beautifully. Too bad they came up short in what is the main objective: scoring.

  10. The story of game 7 was simple. The Bruins didn’t suck, actually. People who think they did were not watching the game. The Bruins were simply outplayed, in much a similar way to the way we outplayed the Blues in the previous game. That is why they lost game 7 at home and that is why the Blues won the cup. Congrats to the Blues who were the better team when it counted most. B’s will be back. 🙂

Working on the new update now…
