Saturday Morning Update

10:37AM

Broad low pressure will sit and spin over the Northeast for the next few days, almost like what happened in the Midwest during the past week. The low center will be far enough southwest of New England to allow slots of drier air to wrap in, so it will not rain all the time, and in fact clouds may break at times to allow a few periods of sun both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

This same general pattern continues into early next week, but at this point it’s a little hard to pinpoint details of who will see showers and when, who will see sun and when, so for the time being the forecast will be fairly generalized, and I’ll try to specify the early week period some time tomorrow

Cautiously optimistic about the second half of next week as it looks like a large ridge of high pressure will build in behind the departing low pressure area.

Have a great weekend everybody!

  1. TK, in Prague now and I think we will luck out here. Very warm with bright skies today (Saturday) and also likely tomorrow (Sunday). Not sure about Monday though.

    1. Do I recall correctly saying that it would start good there but not sure if it would hold all the way through? I could go back and look I guess… 🙂

      1. Prague… 1-3 Oct. You know that it can’t stay nice forever over there! Longer term trends hint at broad low pressure drifting east with showery weather for those days. But sometimes these systems verify further west. If that happens, it would be warmer than normal with isolated showers. I’d plan for the more unsettled, cooler scenario for now. WE MIGHT LUCK OUT HERE!

  2. Thanks for the update TK !!

Interesting afternoon. It is summerlike in Marshfield. The sky has cleared out, the temps are in the mid 70s, the dewpoints are in the mid 60s and the wind is light out of the south. There are a couple of very tall cumulus clouds and I see that there’s a thundershower thats popped up in southern RI. By contrast, Burlington, VT….Albany, NY and Pittsfield, MA are all in the mid to upper 40s !!!

  3. I was out in western mass today. When I left there around 3:00pm it was 53. When I got home a hour ago the temp was 72. Very different feel to the day. Color is really poping out there.

  4. I know this has nothing to do with weather but came back from buffalo and why does buffalo (small market) have an 80,000 seat stadium and the Patriots (Big market) only have 67,000, why?

  5. That is a good question and you would think it would be the other way around. Your going to have an angry Patriots team tomorrow playing the Raiders but the defense is a concern for the Patriots in what it has shown in the first three games of the season.

  6. This setup reminds me of a few winters ago, when one storm for a time had snow falling in Philly and Washington, while raining in Boston.
