Saturday Forecast

8:38AM

DAYS 1-5 (NOVEMBER 23-27)
A weekend split, dry with a seasonable chill today, followed by a rainy Sunday. Today’s a good day to get some final outside cleanup done if you have not gotten to it. Tomorrow will be a perfect inside day, but if you happen to be going to the Patriots game, well, can’t help you with that one, although the steadiest rain may very well have ended by or shortly after the start of the game. Either way, a damp and cool November evening for that one as low pressure will be passing by just to the south. But behind this, high pressure will bring 2 very nice and fairly mild days for November on Monday and Tuesday. That’s also good regional travel weather for pre-Thanksgiving travel. The day before the holiday ends up somewhat unsettled, but for our region it doesn’t look like too big a deal at the moment, just a cold frontal passage with some rain shower activity and fairly mild air. So that ends up being a not-too-bad travel day either as well.
Forecast details…
TODAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 37-44. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts, diminishing with time.
TONIGHT: Clouding over. Lows 25-32. Wind N under 10 MPH.
SUNDAY: Cloudy. Rain likely, may begin as mixed precipitation higher elevations of north central MA and southwestern NH. Highs 40-47. Wind
NE 5-15 MPH interior, 10-20 MPH coast, higher gusts possible.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Cloudy evening with rain ending, some drizzle and fog lingering. Clearing overnight with areas of black ice forming. Lows 27-34. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 45-52. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 25-32. Wind W up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 46-53. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Increasing clouds. Lows 38-45. Wind S up to 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of rain showers. Highs 53-60. Wind SW 10-20 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (NOVEMBER 28-DECEMBER 2)
Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, and the final day of November currently look dry, breezy, and chilly as the low pressure area that passes midweek temporarily slows down and expands near southeastern Canada with high pressure to the west. Things start moving along again so that December starts unsettled with a risk of rain/mix/snow as broad low pressure moves in from the west. Too early for any details.

DAYS 11-15 (DECEMBER 3-7)
Ridge of high pressure southeastern US, westerly flow northern US, changeable weather for this area, starting chilly/dry and likely turning out somewhat unsettled with a rain/snow threat. Again no way to pinpoint any details so far in advance, just leaning toward the progression from fair to unsettled during this particular period of days.

  1. Thanks TK.

I mentioned several days ago the trend for this coming storm to be a solid QPF producer for SNE. That trend has only continued. In fact, I’ll go a step further: it’s a classic. We may get close to “bomb” criteria, and it’ll be deepening most rapidly as it’s overhead of SNE. Thunder tomorrow? Thundersnow inland with that deformation band? Regardless, it’s going to be fun to watch this unfold the next 36 hours.

    1. Any chance for a quick charge of NW winds on the backside of the low for an hour or 2 with the explosive deepening ?

        1. Any chance a flash freeze tomorrow night can be avoided? I believe TK mentioned widespread black ice possible come Monday morning.

  2. Where is Barry these days? Has he retired w/o saying goodbye? I hope not.

Even Harvey isn’t on air very much anymore these days. 🙁

Also, I heard on air that Eric is “under the weather” so to speak. 🙁

    1. Barry & Harvey are both nearing retirement and probably using some of their well-earned time off. 🙂

      Eric’s got a cold! He’ll be back!

  3. Thanks TK
It is going to be a fun game in the rain tomorrow as the Cowboys take on the Patriots. I would be surprised if the Cowboys win tomorrow. I am hoping they don’t get blown out.

  4. 12z HRRR is a good representation of how I think tomorrow’s event unfolds. Typical November rain slug and mountain snow. This is about as normal as it gets. Classic late autumn weather. Some wonderful days like today, and some stormy ones like tomorrow.

Yes, I still think black ice may be a significant issue for a lot of areas early Monday.

  5. TK – Will you still be posting your 2019-20 Winter Outlook tomorrow?

Also, WBZ Accuweather 2019-20 Winter Forecast will be Monday at 11:00 PM.

  6. This blows:
According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Phillip Dorsett (concussion) has not yet been cleared for full football activity, which increases the likelihood he will not be able to play.

With Mohamed Sanu reportedly not expected to play either, the team is left with three wide receivers: Julian Edelman and rookies N’Keal Harry and Jakobi Meyers.

    1. Patriots’ Tom Brady: Expected to play Sunday
      by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Brady’s right elbow issue “won’t keep him out of Sunday’s game” against the Cowboys, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Brady officially is questionable for the contest after being listed as limited at Friday’s practice, but his Week 12 status doesn’t appear to be in danger after all. Of the dozen players listed as questionable by the Patriots on Friday’s injury report, wideouts Mohamed Sanu (ankle) and Phillip Dorsett (concussion) are the team’s key skill-position players whose Sunday status seems less certain.

  7. Listening to sports talk out of NYC yesterday one of the hosts thinks the Cowboys will beat the Patriots. I wish I had that confidence. If they get off to a slow start which they have done a lot this season it could get ugly. Were going need to win games like this if were going to hold off the Eagles. After tomorrow the Eagles have an easy schedule.

    1. I was also just listening to sports radio. It seems most think it will be very close. Good luck to the cowboys and pats.

  8. Thoughts –

Tomorrow cold rain most places. Heaviest prior to 3pm west and 5pm
    East.

Icy surfaces at dawn on Monday.

Snow? Maybe around 12/2? But think that it more like to be rain with system moving to our west.

Zonal flow is predominant. No big warm ups, , plenty of average to just above average temps, but the cold shots could be briefly very cold.

Careful of the EVMWF in regards to temps in the mid and long range. Too warm on warm ups and too cold on the cool downs. As always it’s precip duration it generally too long even if it doesn’t over amp, which it usually does.

  9. JJ, you don’t have to worry about the Cowboys tomorrow. I think the Cowboys will win it comfortably: 27-13. This is not a good match-up for the Patriots in several ways. Plus, they’re missing 2 receivers. Does this mean I have no faith in the Pats moving forward? No. I do have faith. They’ll beat the Chiefs (a vastly overrated team) and Titans. I think their only possible loss after tomorrow is the Bills (another match-up problem, but less so as Allen has limited talent ans does the offense). I think they’re headed to the Superbowl. Could face the Cowboys again in the Superbowl (I am not sold on the 49ers, Saints, or Seahawks). But, tomorrow – like two weeks ago against the Ravens – is a problematic match-up for the Patriots.

  10. Joshua a couple things worry me about the Cowboys the slow starts and our defense at times look like world beaters and other times we can’t stop anyone. We need to win some of these games were not expected to win as the Eagles after tomorrow have a much easier schedule than we do.

    1. Good points, JJ.

But, the talent is there on offense and defense. This is why I think the Cowboys’ biggest problem is coaching. Garrett is probably a nice guy, and easy to deal with for players. But, I really don’t think he’s a good coach. I think that any time a team is as inconsistent as the Cowboys, yet filled with promise and talent, you need to assess the coaching.

    2. I heard that several Cowboys have the flu. If it’s some of their best players it might be another big factor. I have no idea how sports teams in general deal with influenza.

      1. Flu shots can help. But, often what people say is the “flu” is really a cold or virus that is not influenza. And, of course, flu shots have little or no impact on rhinoviruses. As we know, rhinoviruses, of which there are at least 500 at any given point in time circulating the earth, are notoriously contagious, especially when people are in close proximity with one another, and spending a lot of time indoors.

        1. I agree re people using the term flu for many things that are not flu. I would think the team dr would test them to confirm flu. I have had confirmed case of flu after having fhe shot..three of us in family did but not all

  11. I think Jason Garrett will be gone if the Cowboys don’t make the NFC Championship. He is the final year of his contract. To me he is not a coach that will get a team over the hump. The Cowboys winning a playoff game and getting to the second round to me is the best they can do and you need to a new coach to get this team over the hump and get to where they eventually want to be which is Super Bowl champions. There is talent on this team.

  12. I don’t think I feel bad for any fans that left the Garden tonight when the Bruins were down 4-2 with under 3 minutes to play. 😉

  13. Pretty Wet out there.
A bit more cold and a bit more Southerly track and it really would have been interesting.

I know that is a bit much on the bit mores. 🙂

    1. A bit more south, too much east wind, mainly rain still, except the hills. Water still far too warm.
