  1. Mark, I saw your post from last night. I have followed some of you governors pressers. I like him. We are blessed with level headed leaders in the northeast. It seems the majority in CT do also.

I was reading the article below yesterday. I think like baker he will open gradually and be ready to close again should cases begin to rise. Or is that an incorrect assumption?

  2. Boxed.com now has 50 count surgical mask boxes. It’s 40 bucks though but based on how much cvs is selling slightly thicker ones at… it’s a steal. lol

  3. I saw on Boston channel . Com the Governor announcing today the reopening of mass golf courses I do not know with what restrictions. I wonder if the public out cry is starting to catch up . I believe he said other businesses may also reopen on May 18th. I for sure thought the same exact current order would be in place till after the big Memorial Day weekend

    1. Not a problem with golf courses opening up as long as the social distancing is not bserved in my opinion. People need this and I think it’s a fine direction to go in. There will be psychological impact from this hunkering down Wes will find so there is a balancing act that needs to happen

      1. In some places where golf courses are opening, they will not allow anyone inside the facilities including the locker room.

      2. I agree re golf courses. Baker and especially the advisory team did their due diligence and I feel they will have a plan.

Whether folks respect the rules is a whole other question. For the most part I find true golfers to be very cognizant of rules.

        1. Agree. And I think dining rooms, pools although they won’t open yet, not sure about tennis and am curious about golf lessons.

  4. Draft CDC document includes specific reopening guidance for six categories: child care programs; schools and day camps; communities of faith; employers with vulnerable workers; restaurants and bars; mass transit administrators. The White House says it will not implement it.

Enough said. The Trump Administration never took this virus seriously. Still doesn’t. Has no coherent plan of any kind to tackle the problem.

Other Administrations – Democratic and Republican – have also not been exactly public health friendly. But, this Administration is in a league of its own. Anti-science, anti public health. I’m not sure what it’s in favor of.

I get, reopening is important, but you need to follow clear steps in doing so, to avoid having to start all over again with more lockdowns and misery.

    1. I know trump folks are frustrated by criticism of his approach. But how the heck does anyone justify his complete denial and as a result complete lack of guidance.

  5. Rhode islands stand alone reopening site is still one I think other states should adopt so people have clear and concise guidance in one place. Massachusetts confusing website is so poorly constructed.

For anyone who hasn’t seen it.

    1. Impressed. Thank you for sharing.

Raimondo is a very capable governor.

She’s done a very admirable job.

      1. I can’t tell you the number of strategic plans we wrote with our clients. My business associate and mentor taught strategic planning to mass bankers classes at Babson as well. It was a surprise to me how few understood best practices for SP, but then why would folks. You can’t specialize in everything. Someone in RI knows and, even further, understands SP. Even if the MA plan is not as well constructed, baker has the process down very well

    2. Thanks Dr. I had shared this a week or so ago as an example of strategic excellence. I have yet to look at the one from Ma as I thought the advisory board is still collaborating. Hopefully, once it’s strategic approach is developed, the site will improve. For what it is worth, last time I checked CA also was confusing.

  6. Dr stupid. I ordered some masks from boxed. I believe my SIL will also for work. Thank you.

    1. Excellent! I finally got the nitrile gloves I ordered from Ace Hardware the other day so I am pleased. The only thing I’m running low on is lysol aerosol because it helps me sanitize some things faster but I haven’t been diligently looking…

  7. Yes lots of restrictions regarding the coarse . No golf carts just push , no club house action you play & go case closed . I think thugs are starting to change quite honestly even with high numbers . Folks want to get back to normal & government is hearing them .

  8. I agree with the decision on the golf courses with the restrictions for now and I feel this can be a model to be followed (and tweaked) going forward as we see how it works.

Please see the weather page. I’m sharing an excellent blog written by SAK.

  9. If there is a widespread meat shortage, Star Market has yet to get the memo. I went in there today for “other” items and I checked the meat areas just for my curiosity and there was PLENTY of meats, all kinds.

As for Stop & Shop, I didn’t go in there today but they almost always tend to have “empty-ish” shelves in their meat sections compared to Star. I would be curious who their distributor is.

According to McD’s CEO, plenty of meat in their restaurants so no issues…for now. On the other hand, Wendy’s already has meat shortages. I have no idea about BK one way or the other.

    1. McD’s has it easier since they cut the meat with tons of filler and salt and they probably have massive storage facility freezers filled to capacity. Their burgers taste god awful these days. Wendys always has the tagline of fresh never frozen and 100% beef – so it doesn’t surprise me they could experience shortages.

Isn’t it funny the chain that produced the catchphrase “Where’s the Beef?” Is the one of the three having a shortage issue?

Went to a stop and shop near me – there IS a lot of meat but there are noticeable gaps where they have either run low – or out. They had no formed burger patties frozen or fresh. And the biggest indicator to me that they were running low on fresh ground meat? I purchased a package and they didn’t have that juice pad underneath the ground meat in the package like they usually do when it’s likely going to sit on the shelf for a while.

  10. Vicki, regarding your post from this AM, yes, it will be a gradual reopening in phases here in CT and data will be monitored all along and adjustments made to the plan if conditions warrant.

While I did not vote for Lamont or agree with many of his policies, I do agree he has done a decent job thus far handling the coronavirus situation here in CT.

    1. Agre. I don’t know his politics but sure seems he has done well here

But it isn’t unusual. I didn’t like any of Bush Jr politics but thought he was exceptional during September 11.

  11. Mark I agree with your statement on Lamont. He has done a decent job with this and I like a gradual reopening. Other states who opened up quickly should look at what were doing in the northeast. Don’t get me started with The White House when it comes to CDC guidelines.
This is great news to read
BREAKING: Largest one-day decline in new hospitalizations in Massachusetts, and ICU cases fell dramatically.

  12. Federal Judge has ruled that Massachusetts gun shops can reopen immediately overruling Gov. Baker’s orders of closure. It was breaking news on Ch. 7.

  13. Philip great word you used to describe that. The measures taken here and the slow reopening is the way to go. If you open to quick your going to see cases spike like we are in Texas and Georgia. Sad that we have hit 75,000 deaths in this country.

    1. Imagine if people ALL had respected stay home and distance. Or more important if all states had put it in place. I’d say it is hindsight but it is anything but
