It’s the feel of summer for the “unofficial” start of summer this Memorial Day, but all may not be quiet, because as a cold front moves into the region, bumping into a very warm airmass in place, some thunderstorms are likely to be set off today. The good news is that widespread severe weather is not likely. However, be on the look-out for darkening skies and passing storms, any of which may produce strong winds, hail, downpours, and of course, dangerous lightning.
We get a break Tuesday as high pressure builds in. A cooler, but pleasant day is expected. If clouds are around to start it, expect the sun to win out.
Wednesday, another quick change will take place. A warm front will pass in the early hours, returning warm and humid air to the region, which will then be wrung out by another cold front, producing showers and thunderstorms once again.
As we get to the second half of the week, high pressure should dominate at the surface and aloft, with fine weather for at least a few days.
