Monday April 7 2025 Forecast (7:17AM)

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 7-11)

A wave of low pressure along a frontal boundary south of our region brings some rain and non-impactful snow to the region today, into part of tonight. Another disturbance has to cross the area early Tuesday with an additional round of rain and snow showers, before it exits to the east and drier, colder air arrives through Wednesday. High pressure builds over the region later Wednesday, shutting down a gusty wind that arrives on Tuesday. The next low pressure system approaches from the southwest sending clouds into the region as the high moves offshore on Thursday, and this system, while weakening, should maintain enough identity for an unsettled day Friday.

TODAY: Cloudy. Episodic rain/sleet/snow – frozen favoring interior higher elevations but possible anywhere, with brief slushy accumulation potential. Temperatures fall to 34-41 early then recover slightly to late highs 38-45. Wind N to NE 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Episodic rain/mix/snow (frozen most likely north of I-90). Lows 33-40. Wind N to variable 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of rain/mix/snow showers, diminishing with time. Highs 41-48. Wind variable 5-15 MPH becoming NW 10-20 MPH, increasing to 15-30 MPH with gusts 35-45 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Clearing. Lows 26-33. Wind NW 15-25 MPH, higher gusts.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 45-52. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 25-32. Wind light variable.

THURSDAY: Sun followed by clouds. Highs 51-58, coolest coast. Wind SE up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY NIGHT / FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain. Lows 40-47. Highs 50-57. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (APRIL 12-16)

Unsettled weekend April 12-13 – highest wet weather threat is Saturday, some improvement possible Sunday. Fair, milder interlude early next week before another quick round of unsettled weather leads fair, cool weather in late period. Many details TBD.

DAYS 11-15 (APRIL 17-21)

Overall pattern is cooler again. One or 2 episodes of unsettled weather are possible with an active weather pattern.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK
39 here. can’t tell if it is raining or very very wet snow is falling. If I were sutting in my car and looking at the windshield I could tell for sure.

    1. There were definitely ice pellets bouncing off my car when I drove my son to school. Great day for a high school baseball game. Secretly hoping it gets cancelled. 🙂

      1. Thanks, TK.

Middleborough High baseball has yet to play a “real” game yet this season because the weather and/or wet field conditions.

  2. Thank you TK!

I saw a post on a Facebook weather page about a possible Nor’easter for the weekend. I just caught a glimpse and never read the details and could not find it again when I went back to look. I assume that is not the case where I have not seen it posted anywhere else.

  3. Holding at 39 here. We usually don’t see the snow in this type situation until about 36. So, we shall see. Not looking like it to me. Looks like plain ole rain.

    1. If you hear tapping, tapping at your chamber door, I suggest that you find another way out of the house and don’t return!
      🙂

  4. Do you see winds tomorrow becoming a concern? Thought I saw an Advisory posted but not sure where. I am looking forward to calm, sunny days at some point. Thanks.

  5. Thanks, TK.

Drove through some glop here around noontime, but the showers are just rain now.

I spent the weekend near Houston and watched a front go through on Saturday afternoon from a semi-outdoor but (mercifully) covered stage. Thunder, wind, and torrential rain, followed by a dramatic drop in temperature. Then it was frigid for the concert in the early evening. Not exactly what I expected (or packed for)!

  6. Fenway is not always nasty in April. Just ask SAK what it was like on Friday. 🙂

BTW, CPC has trimmed way back on their warmth for much of the US, especially the Midwest, Great Lakes, Northeast (the latter, they never really had warm). They’re going with a cool regime into early May. Warm weather fans may need extra patience this year.

      1. I have been to the last 35 Red Sox games on Patriots Day.

        Average Game-Time Temperature – 55
        Highest Game-Time Temperature – 79 (2012)
        Lowest Game-Time Temperature – 44 (2015)

3 games had a temperature of 70 or higher at 1st pitch.
9 games had a temperature of 60 or higher at 1st pitch
14 games had a temperature of 50 or lower at 1st pitch

        1st pitch weather:
        Sunny – 13 times
        Cloudy – 19 times
        Drizzle – 2 times
Rain – 1 time (plus 1 game cancelled due to rain, and 1 game called after 7 innings due to rain)

More often than not, the weather is at least decent, if not beautiful, in mid-April for Patriots Day.

    1. In Reading it was a mix of rain and snow pretty much the entire time I was there (8:00 to 2:30). Now I have drizzle & a few ice pellets here in Woburn.

      Forecast working out well today.

      1. Just back from Uxbridge. My windshield was more slushy than wet when I started the car. Driving it was splatting on the windshield almost like slush. We have had periods where the raven showed up briefly.

  7. This is likely going to be the most miserable spring in terms of weather in recent memory. Not that it’s going to be remembered for any big snows (or any snows for that matter) either.

    1. March was 4 degrees above normal. We’re only 7 days in to April. 🙂

I would stop way shy of saying “likely” regarding that prediction. 🙂

    1. Couldn’t disagree with you more. 🙂

It’s funny, many think we’re having the worst spring ever. Not even close.

Temps are running +3F, and it’s only been slightly wetter than average in the past 2 weeks (March was drier than average and had a +4 temp departure at Boston).

Yet there are places floating away in flooding not too far away. We have it great in reality.

I mean, just 3 days ago it was mostly sunny with temps in the 60s to around 70. 😉

      1. I’m sure you know I agree. If you look around, the world is coming alive after its winter nap. Buds on trees are a bit early. Forsythia are blooming. April showers are not uncommon and needed to help the growth. And we are still in drought.

I remember at least two Junes like this (1982 and 2011). They was a bit rough especially since we rented at humarock in 1982. But it also made for some memories that make me smile.

        1. It reminds me of the stretch of rainy 60s & 70s in July 1974 (I am pretty sure then) – two or 3 days that were not classic “beach days” during the time we had a cottage at Hampton for that week. Family made the most of it and hit gift shops and drove up the coast with mom & dad in the station wagon. It was a great time, and the rest of the week the weather went more typical July and we had a blast at the beach. My parents always making the most of things for their 5 boys probably is part of what helped me develop the outlook I have. Much credit to them. 🙂

  8. Both Boston (Logan) and Worcester “officially”received Traces of snow today. ❄️

    Seasonal totals:
    ORH = 33.8”
    BOS = 28.1”
